I must share this with my family as today was a very sad day for me. Your all aware that I work in an Assistant living home. When you do this kind of work those residents become family to you and grow to love them all but some of them you get attached to and baby them a little more. One of my favorite residents was a little 102 year old German lady named Mary. My sweet little 102 year old Mary passed away yesterday morning in the dinning room while having breakfast. Her little old heart could not tick anymore and she went fast and painless. They said her heart just stopped and she was gone that fast. She was ready to go as she asked her Lord everyday to please take her home and I would tell her everyday. Mary when he is ready he will take you and I guess yesterday was the day that he called her home. May she rest in peace now with the angels above I was not there as it was my day off and maybe it was a blessing that I was not as I loved her dearly I would have had her today to take care but her room was closed and locked. Even on the days that I did not have her hallway I would walk the hallway to the end to check on my Mary but no checks this morning or anymore mornings Thanks for letting me vent. Hugs Donna

Thank you Mary :hugs: I know you understand as you have your own big babies at the place you work. They wanted them to do CPR on her and I said what!! She was 102 years old and did not want to live anymore so why try and keep her a live. I guess the States says it's mandatory. Mary's daughter said it was best they did not try and keep her a live as her mother had gone through enough but I don't think CPR would have saved her. Donna 338/159

Hello Donna, I know how you feel. I used to work in a nursing home and that was one of the hardest parts. I took care of one lady and when she past away it hurt me so bad. This was over 15 years ago and I keep her picture in my Bible. ((((Hugs Donna)))) Diana

That's so sweet. I never got a picture of my little Mary. Maybe the family will allow me to have one of her, that's if I see her daughter when she comes to clean out the room or maybe they have one of her. Hugs Donna

I am so sorry to hear about your loss, Donna. Elders are so sweet and it hurts double when its time for them to go home. You enriched her life and she still loves you from up above. Cheri

Although the day may seem sad to you.... for Mary, it was likely a day of rejoice. She is away from her 102 year old shell and has been reunited with all of her long-passed loved ones. I believe it is a special day for her. After 102 years, most of Mary's family and friends are already waiting for her, on the other side. Try to find comfort in the knowledge that she is resting in peace, surrounded by those who love her. Karen G

Believe it or not Mary still had a daughter living who is around 65 years old and had a grand daughter and great grand daughter. The activities coordinator is going to find the best picture of Mary and have one made for each of the Aids that work there as I asked her this morning if she had any nice pictures of Mary that I might be able to get copied. What a thoughtful Activities coordinator we have My plan was to get a picture of Mary and I when she turned 103 on January 4th. I told her keep hanging in there Mary until that 103 birthday and she always told me. I only live one day at a time. In all honesty it was best she went as she was starting to feel pain on her side (heart side) and it was her heart giving out. Donna

Donna, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I used to work with a lot of elderly patients and it was awful every time I found out one of them died. I'm sure you made the last part of Mary's life much more enjoyable. Just remember she is in a better place now. Melissa
