Finally did the tangerine dance
Believe it or not I finally ate my first tangerine today and so far so good. I just refused to eat the skin as I was scared it might get stuck.
It's going on a year since my surgery (12/09) and I'm finally starting to eat foods I ate before surgery. Funny how we get such a fear of things but my surgeon said I MUST start eating better and he is right.
Same as I'm staying away from fast food even if it's only half a whopper I ate. Bad habits are hard to over come and while getting my blood drawn this morning the lady was telling me about a friend of hers that lost large amounts of weight after having WLS and gained most of it back as he had this attitude that he can eat small portions of fast food and small went to larger portions.

Yea Donna, Good for you. You are doing amazing. I haven't eaten oranges or tangerines yet either. Apples don't bother me or peaches or bananas. I still haven't had steak or pork chops. Just not needing them and afraid they'll make me . My surgery was two days before yours. I know that you are feeling better and so happy with your success. I wish you all the best and keep up the good work. I don't eat fast food either, no soda and no sugar only splenda in my iced tea. I just know that I was a food junkie and will have to be aware all my life with this now. My friend had the surgery 8 or 9 years ago and she ate right through it and has gained to where I think she's bigger than she was. It's a head game and we have to stay on top of it. Carol
Hi Donna,
I have been eating oranges for a very long time. It is my favorite fruit. And even though it is a pain to peel the skin off of each individual slice, it is soooo good to be able to eat them. I have to peel the skins off of all fruits, even apples and grapes (although I do eat peach skins). I think I could eat oranges until the came out of my nose, but have to make myself back away from them because of the high sugar content.
I do eat some fast foods, but just occasionally when I am out and about and I need to eat. This time of year is difficult for me because I go on so many hockey road trips, and you don't have the comforts of home on the road. I try to minimize the fast food and eat the healthier fast foods out there.
Hugs,
Susan
