My very first dump last night

Hello everyone, I am so embarrassed. I had my first dump on my 10 month anniversary. We were at my hubby's coworkers house at his Halloween party. I think it was the kiwi on the fruit tray. I had eaten everything else before. This was only the second time I had met these people. I had never been to their house before. I had to ask his wife if I could lay down on her bed. It lasted about 50 minutes. I thought I was going to die. That was no fun. I don't want to ever do that again. Take care everyone and have a great Sunday. Diana 379/200/?

Hi Diana, I am so sorry you had to go thru that. You have done very well not to have dumped at all in 10 months. I have found that very little makes me dump. But what might make me dump this week, might not have made me dump last week. It is very strange how it happens. In the beginning, I could drink milk without a problem, then it began to make me dump. Then a few months later I tried it again and I didn't dump from it. Now I am back to dumping on milk again. Maybe in time the fruit won't make you dump again. Hugs, Susan

I'm sorry to hear you had such an awful ordeal. I know I have had it happen at work where I get tired, feel hot, sweaty and want to pass out almost. It's horrible when you can't lay down and just rest or sleep it off. I sometimes get really tired after eating sweets and have to sleep it off. Donna 338/167

I've never dumped, but when I eat something I shouldn't I always throw up... it's kind of annoying. A couple of the girls at camp this summer thought I was bulemic! I do get tired if I eat something with too much sugar in it... but thats as far as it goes. Sorry I hope that you don't have any more problems with dumping... but I don't think you should be embarassed... you took a big step to improve your health... and if it has little side effects along the way it's nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about.

I'm sorry you had that happen - it is embarrasing when it happens away from home. for me I (generally) begin to get nauseous while eating so I know to stop or I'm going to be in trouble...I have had two times that did not happen and it was horrible....I don't know why sometimes we dump and sometimes we don't - the other day we had pizza - I just ate the topping like I always do...I had to go to bed - apparently it is not only sugar that can make me dump, but greasy foods will also. Every day is an adventure in WLS land

Yea that banana was the first time I dumped without knowing it was coming - I guess it was too ripe...you have to watch those bananas - if they aren't green - then I get green

You know, visiting this Dec. 2004 message board is such a help to me. I've not dumped yet, but, I realize, that from reading this post, it may happen any day!!! Mary

Thanks everyone. That was such an awful experience. My tummy hurt so bad. It took me a few minutes to realize what was happening. I thought my DH was going to have to take me to the ER. Then I remembered that everyone says to lay down. It worked. whew Thank God. ((((hugs)))) Diana
