Hit goal quickly still losing
Has anyone run into this? I lost my excess weight very quickly (lost 150 pounds) and at 10 months am worried that the losing won't stop. My pouch doesn't seem to hold as much as what many of you speak of. I could only eat one egg as an entire meal and that is if I was eating slow and forced in the last few bites. I don't even get in the water and protein I need because there just isn't enough time in the day and room in my pouch. I went through a phase recently where I was almost passing out several times a day. Am I alone in this problem?
Nope. Sorry. It always looks greener on the other side of the fence. I am struggling to lose the weight. I have only lost 95 pounds. Still need to lose about another 50.
I read your profile and I think I eat alot more than you do. I take a morning protein shake, then I eat three small meals and two snacks on top of that morning shake. In total I get about 1200 calories a day. I think it makes me a slower loser, but I am still losing pretty steadily. I sure hope I can reach your measure of success. CONGRATS!!!!!
If you are ready to transition to the maintenance stage and find eating difficult, I recommend you book a visit to your nutritionist. Perhaps something is not right with your stoma.
Good luck

95 pounds lost is a grand achievement! Soon it will be the century club for you! I'd guess that a slow loss is better on the hair and skin.
I did visit my nutritionist...$40 and no help later I am on my own to figure this out. Her advice was this: Eat more, and nuts are good choices.
I truly appreciate all the feedback, I can see now that my situation is unusual and I am right to be somewhat concerned.
I'd guess I'm getting from 400 to 800 calories a day and not near enough water. I do "graze" throughout the day to keep a steady source of energy and mostly on cashews, which I love and seem to be a very agreable intake item for me. I absolutely cannot keep down shakes of any kind.
Thanks!
Valerie
Hey Karen...I "replied" to you, or thought I did. Somehow..I replied to myself and it landed further down on the post list. Anyway. I was noting the smilarities between you and I in our starting weights and surgery dates. Do you still like the taste of the protein drinks? I start to gag at the thought of one.
Valerie
Yup. You replied. It is my fault. I haven't been online since early Friday. Just a really busy weekend.
I am glad you went to the Nutritionist. There are some really good sources of protein in nuts and seeds. Sesame seeds, flaxseeds, cashews and especially almonds... really great stuff. I enjoy two flavours of protein... The Vanilla Very Berry from Bariatriceating.com and a plain Chocolate Whey powder that I buy from Walmart. I jazz them up with different mixes. Sometimes I will add an over-ripe banana or a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter, just to change the taste. I have also changed what I mix it with, as far as liquid goes. I alternate between water / water with skim milk powder / 1% FF milk / SF FF plain yogurt and even SF vanilla ice cream. I just experimented until I found some that tasted great. The SF vanilla ice cream in the blender makes it a milk shake.
I hope you are able to find something you enjoy eating, that is easy on your system. A few experiments might help.

I wish I had your problem. Me on the other hand can eat a lot. Sometimes I feel like I didn't have the surgery. I'm always hungry. I do dump with grease and some sweets but is not bad. I don't get too sick not to eat it again. I had only lost 65 lbs by my 6 month and my scale has gone up and sometimes a few lbs down since then. I feel like a total failure. I think that because I only needed to loose 87 lbs my doctor made my pouch bigger and maybe he didn't bypass too much of my intestines. I dunno but it's driving me crazy. Good luck to you.
