I have come here to whine I have experienced quite a hair loss and it appears that my hair has changed its structure. It looks overprocessed, dry and generally dead. To top it all off, I have been getting gray hair like crazy. Bummer, I just turned 40. My parents didn't have any gray hair at my age. I've been spending money on expensive shampoos and conditioners to no avail. I have not done anything to my hair other than cut it, since my nutritionist discouraged me from doing anything chemical to it. Vanity wants to take over. I hate the grays and I hate the general look. I also stopped losing for a few months now and I've been grazing on bad things like chocolate. I need a good kick in the ... Did anyone else experience something similar with their hair? I would love to hear your thoughts.

My hair is thinning, and very very wiry and like you said looks over processed. I got a perm two months before the surgery and then another one in April to try to help make it look thicker. I think it's the change in our diets, not enough protein etc. I'm hoping this will change the farther along we go. I figure it's a small price to pay for this fantastic tool and great weightloss. Good Luck to you. Carol

I never had any gray either until afew months after surgrey. I think my hairloss has finally slowed enough to call it stopped, but I cut and highlighted my hair to cover up some of the gray... I guess I should be happy I lasted this long without any gray, both of my sistres HAD to start coloring their hair in their early 20's Susan

That's it. My hair is really really wirey. I have not done anything chemical to it, since the end of December. I am ready to break eggs over my head (to leave the yolk in my scalp for a few hours, recommended by my haidresser). LOL. Is there a hair specialist that would know about these things? I certainly don't think it would be in the hairdresser's best interest to dispense advice, especially if it means you won't be spending the money on coloring or highlights.

My sister had to also start coloring her hair in her early 20's also. I have very little gray but I'm noticing a few more popping up. I lost my hair in the front of my head "bangs area" and it's growing back but slowly. Looks like I cut my hair Donna 338/172 (2 pounds shed)

Are you taking Biotin? Or vitamins specially tailored for the hair and skin? Sue O.

I was taking Biotin or Niocin. For some reason I always get the two mixed up. I think it helped with the hairloss, but the hair structure is another story. Obviously the grays are irreversible, but I wonder if the hair structure changes for the better.

I have had a lot of hair loss too, but I have been using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner the last 6 weeks and have just had my hair colored and highlighted and it looks a lot thicker. My hairdresser says that coloring your hair plumps up the hair follicle. Of course it doesn't look like it did pre op but it does look thicker.

I'm 37 and have also just started to find....not gray......but WHITE - very WHITE wiry hairs coming in. Mine looks healthy, but it has stayed thin - I didn't lose much, but what I did lose never came back. Candy 266/154/140
