Group question: Have you dumped yet or not?
I just realized that I am almost 9 months old (with the rebirth of course!) and I have yet to dump. How many of you haven't dumped either?
There have been times when I've been quesy, but I've never had the symptoms I've read about when it comes to dumping. I work to keep my sugar intake at 12g or less with my usual intake being 10g or under.
The only sugar I don't worry about is from fruit. I eat bananas, pineapple and apples (minus the skin) all the time with no problems.
I am so scared to dump, but then I wonder if I would anyway? I don't want to think about that. The fear of dumping has kept me on track.
Anyway, I was curious where everyone was on the topic of dumping.

For the last 8+ months I thought I had an iron clad pouch, resistant to dumping. That all changed a couple weeks ago and not at a very convenient time. I was volunteering at my daughter's school and ended up staying way longer then I thought I was going to, so I wasn't prepared and elementary school don't cater to us post-ops. Anyways...I made the mistake of taking a couple small swigs of chocolate milk from my daughter's lunch, within about 20 minutes I started sweating profusely and my pouch was making quite a racket. I knew I had to get home and SOON! So I gathered my stuff and raced out the door with barely a 'c-ya' to the teacher and raced home. No way was I going to be caught in the girls bathroom with those little tiny squares with the sounds coming from my pouch. No sooner did I get in the front door and I was racing to the bathroom. My heart was pounding, my intestines were cramping and I was sweating like I'd just run a marathon. I felt HORRIBLE! My poor tush was in for a ride.
By the time that portion was over, my head was pounding and I was exhausted. I crawled into bed and under the covers (cuz now I was cold) and zonked out for an hour.
Thank goodness my daughter's teacher knows about my surgery or she probably would've thought I was a nut!
So a word to wise, things with the pouchy can change...usually when you least expect it. Just cuz we're all 9 months out doesn't mean the old pouchy doesn't have a few tricks still left up it's sleeve.
*hugs to all*

I am 9 months out and I have not yet dumped. I have had a mouthful of ice cream cake (at a baby shower) and I was fine with it. I was worried, but that was my only temptation with sugar, since surgery. I keep all my sugar and fat intake to below 10 grams per meal.
I have had no complications at all since surgery. I can go out with the girls for lunch and eat normal foods. People would not know I was gastric by-pass, unless I have told them. Unfortunately, my weight loss has been very slow. At 9 months, I have only lost 93 pounds. Still working to reach that Century Club.

I dumped last February. I had a small glass of OJ and it was horrible. I do not ever want to have this happen again. I got the sweats, gassy, quesy pouch, nausea, and then the diarrhea hit with a vengence. This lasted about an hour and afterward I was exhausted. I now will only drink lite OJ and only have it from time to time. I can eat fruits ok. I try and be very aware of what sugars I take in and read the labels. I hear that sugar alcohols can also be very bad and cause dumping.

Melissa,
I'm 9 months out today and haven't had any problems with anything. Sometimes it scary because I have eaten all sorts of things and nothing makes me sick. I hope I don't fall back into old habits and gain my weight back. I do eat alot less of everything though.

Hi Melissa,
I seem to be able to eat everything except ice cream and rice pudding. That seems to be no problem because I really shouldn't be eating those anyway --- right? Yea but for some reason I'm totally fixated by that pudding...... See, we loose so much weight and still want the same things. When I eat those things I feel like I've been on a spinning ride at an amusement park! I sweat a bit not a lot and it goes away in 20 minutes. No throwing up or time on the potty.... I don't know if thats dumping or not.... ((((hugs to everyone)))) Judy
271/147/125 (the docs- mine is about 140) time for bed---
I get quesy at about 6 grams of sugar - I generally know when I am eating to stop because I immediately start getting nauseous - I did have an instance about a month ago when I ate an (apparently) overripe bananna (they get sweeter as they ripen) with no advanced warning - man I was in the bathroom all night. I don't get the sweats - but I get cramps, I feel nauseous, and then diarreha hits with a vengence....one time I was flying home and I was in salt lake airport - naturally there was nothing for me to eat except for smoked turkey lunch mea****ch the smoked stuff sometimes they use sugar to cure it...I kept asking God please don't let me dump I will miss my flight no way could I spend my whole flight in the toilet....
not dumping is a blessing but could be an issue later on if you don'****ch the sweets
