Question
I posted this on the main board. Maybe someone here can answer my questions.
I'm 9 months post-op and my hair loss was really bad. It has slowed down a lot but I nearly lost all my hair.
Its growing back slowly and I was wondering how long do I have to wait til I do something with it? Color, straight perm, highlights? I guess what I'm trying to find out is how strong or weak our new hair is.
Thanks for the info,

I colored my hair and it's doing fine. Mine is starting to grow back in now. I lost mine around my upper forhead. My bangs fall out but now I have baby hair sprouting.
I would be scared to perm my hair if I lost most it. I would wait until it's starting growing back in thick. I'm speaking for myself.

hi. believe it or not i had my surgery on 12-6 and by christmas i had died my hair. i didn't like the color so about 2 weeks later i died it again. i straightened it for christmas also. my hair started falling about 3-4 months or so after my surgery and it's stopped now. i actually like it better now since it's alittle thinner. so personally, i think u can go ahead and do what u want. good luck with it... sue
I have continued to colour my hair, every month, since surgery. I have had grey hairs since I was a teen and if I don't colour it, I look really old. I lost some hair, but not enough to worry me. I take sublingual biotin to help retain and strengthen my hair.
As everyone's hair is different, I recommend you talk to a stylist.

Since my new hair is only about 2 inches long. I was thinking about waiting til Dec to do something to it. It looks very goofy because I have so much baby hair and the ends are so thin. I have it up all the time because it looks terrible. I take biotin everyday. I started loosing tons of hair since week 12.
Thanks,

Norma,
You should check with the hairstylist that does your hair for the best answer. I can tell my hair has stopped coming out and is growing back because it is all frizzy right now. I didn't lose so much that others could tell because my hair is thick or should I say was thick and now it's thinner.
I don't think coloring will hurt it, but a perm probably is not the best thing to do right now.

NOrma! How are you? Y la baby? Mira... I think coloring won't hurt...mi prima dice que segun when you color it...que lo hace que it grows. Who Knows
As for anything like straightenin and perming stuff...I wouldn't only because your hair is fairly weak...its falling which means its weak. Your baby hairs aren't too long and still haven't really gotten "Thick". Chemicals and harsh treatments can damage your hair and even cause it to fall out.
Hope this helps...CUIDATE!
