My longest plateau was about 7 weeks. It was very frustrating, but i knew it wouldn't last forever. I have had 3 fairly long plateaus so far... But I know it is all just part of the process of the body trying to catch up to the huge weight loss. Keep the faith, it will end eventually! Susan Lap RNY 12-1-04 285-182-155 (-103)

Thanks for your reply Susan. Your words help me because you had surgery about the same time as I did. My surgery was 12/13/05. I have never had this long of a plateau before. When I was at just about 100 pounds lost, I had a short stall, but I have been fluctuating between 185 and 190 now for weeks. I keep up the exercise and hope that I will begin to lose again shortly. I started at 301. I think I have lost inches though lately, because I just bought the jeans I'm wearing today a couple of weeks ago, and they are really baggy.

I am on my longest plateau right now!!! I haven't lost since Gall Bladder surgery (about 4 1/2 weeks ago). I am hoping it will start up again, I only have 10 pounds to go to goal, but these last ten are the worst! Good Luck, Cheryl

my surgery was three days after yours and I've been at between 185-190 forthe last couple of months and don't know what to do to get past this point if I could just get past the 180's I would really feel like I was doing something. It's making me get a little discouraged if anyone has any suggestions I'm listening. thanks

It is so frustrating. For a week I am going to drink my protein shakes only and see if that helps. I figure I can have 5 of those a day if I feel hungry. Just like I did a week before my surgery when I lost 7 pounds. Of course, I'll continue with my vitamins and exercise. I think I'll up my exercise too. I walk 5 miles a day before I get ready for work in the morning, but I think I'll try and do another 5 miles when I get home from work. It's just so hot here in Arizona. I believe someone said it was 114 degrees yesterday. Even at 4:30 a.m. this morning, when I walk to beat the heat, it was hot. I don't want to go into starvation mode by not getting enough calories, but maybe I need to cut down on my carbs for a few days and see if that helps. I figure it can't hurt for a few days and just maybe it will help break the plateau.

I feel so depressed I know I really need to do something about it my plateau has been going on since June I was at 187 then two day later I was at 185 then 1 month later I was at 186 and now a month later I am at 187. I was exercising everyday and staying away from the sweets but now I crave them I know that they are not good for me but it's a mind thing or something I don't know what to do I just moved I'm afraid to tell people at the doctor's office that I work for that I had it done because they will think she had surgery and she is still that big. I call the doctor who did my surgery and he offers suggestions stop eating the sweets, increase the water eat more protein when you're craving sweets eat some fruit or vegetables eat six small meals and exercise for at least an hour. I'm trying so hard to get back on track but I don't know if I've fallen off for good when I read everybody else's post I feel encouraged but just as soon as I go away from the computer my ump is gone. Iwent to a support group and they didn't help I felt like I was two far gone and just really bummed out I can't motivate myself to exercise I can't seem to say no to the sweets. I know this is really bad I hardly ever eat what you would call a meal I'm getting to the point where I hate food and wish I didn't have to eat at all. I know people may say oh you're taking the easy way out when you have WLS but they wouldn't even have a clue about what you go through once you do it. I am very happy for my results but I just want to readjust myself and get back on track. If someone has some suggestions please help me I would love to just step on the scale and be on the losing end agian I know this was long but I just really needed to vent. THanks for your post and thanks to whomever listens
