Frustrated!
I have gained and lost the same 4 pounds about 6 times in the last 2 months! Has this happened to anyone else? No matter what I do I can't seem to stop this cycle! I am down 98 lbs, and would like to loose at least 15 more. I am starting to get discouraged and wondering if I will ever loose any more weight. I am trying to add more exercise and eat more protein. Hopefully this will help. I am getting disappointed in myself. I have a few friends that had WLS 2 years ago and they have both gained back about 30 lbs. I don't want to do that, but it scares me to think that I might! I wish they could do brain surgery along with WLS. Just switch off that whole mind hunger thing!
Thanks for letting me vent!

Hi Melinda,
I am stuck at 140 as well and am 20 pounds to goal. I am upping my exercise and protein hoping that it will help.
We will get there! We just have to believe.
Vent away anytime!
Hugs,

Melinda,
I know how you feel. This month I only lost five pounds and it's been up and down all month. I'm happy at this size, 8-10, but I would like to lose 20 pounds more or even 30 to give me a little cushion. I was thinking I was the only one this was happening to. I'm just trying to be more diligent with my food choices. I have to admit I have not exercized in a very long time. I've been so active this summer and the pounds were coming off without trouble. Time to get back to exercizing. I'd like to switch off that whole mind hunger thing too! blasted addiction to the fiery hot pringles!!!

Ipve been a slow loser since surgery. My pattern for the last few months was to lose 2-3 pounds in one week and then sit for 3-6 weeks afterward. I was losing but very slowly. A couple of weeks ago I started using fitday.com to track my daily input. Prior to that, I used a paper journal, tracking how much protein and (roughly) how many carbs I was consuming. I guessed that I was consuming 1000 calories daily.
Image my shock when I found that I was taking in 1300-1400 calories each day. Some days, more. Before surgery, I would never have lost weight consuming that many calories each day. Why would I think I could do it now? I cut back my calories to 1000-1100 each day. I get in 100 g protein and the rest in fruit or carefully selected other carbs.
Last week I lost 6 lbs. I've not lost that much in one week since the first few weeks after surgery. Was this the result of my calorie cut? Who knows. My body has been fighting losing the stored pounds for so long. Maybe my body is getting with the program. Maybe the addition of Cytomel to my hypothyroidism medications is starting to make the difference. Will it continue? It would be great, but I'm not holding my breath.
I guess my point in all this rambling is that examining what your're eating in excrutiating detail may help to give you a clue why you aren't losing.
hope this helps,
Sue O.
