Mind Issues
I was wondering if anyone else looks in the mirror and "thinks of them selves as Fat still". I have been having a hard time with this. I know that I am losing and have gone from a size 26 to a size 14. So I know that I have thinned down, but "force of habit" keeps me going to the plus size clothes section. I still see a size 26 when I look in the mirror. Does any one have any suggestions?!!! I have one other question. WHen people ask how much weight weight have you lost & how much more do you want to lose? Are they being nosey, trying to figure out our weight, or just really curious in a good way?

Angy,
I understand how you feel. I feel the same way! I think it is because we are so used to seeing ourselves that way. Being overweight and seeing that overweight person in the mirror is the only thing we've ever known. I know that I don't see what other people see when they look at me now. I guess that our bodies have changed so quickly, that our minds have not had the chance to get used to it yet!
How do you feel when you see old pictures or videos of yourself before the surgery? It makes me cry! I remember how horrible I felt about myself. I hope that doesn't sound stupid!
I hate when people ask me how much I've lost! Why is that anyones business! I would never ask someone that question. I think they are a little curious and a lot nosey! I just think it's rude. It's like asking a bald person, " So, how much hair have you lost?" I wonder how they would feel about that.
Just try to enjoy your new body and know that we are beautiful no matter what the scale says!

I think you are right about the mind not catching up with the body since the weight loss happens so quickly in the beginning. I look at some of my old pictures (the few I have) and go "Yuck! How did I let myself go?" I just hope at some point I will look in the mirror and see what others see. Thanks for your response .

Hi Angy,
I still go to the plus size section too! I don't think it is a force of habit, I feel I really need to shop there. I don't see a thin me, just the same old me.
I guess I don't mind when someone asks how much I have lost, I am kind of proud of all my hard work. Maybe they are being nosey, but I think they are jealous!
I don't like when they say...you are so thin now! I don't feel thin, and I certainly don't look thin, maybe thinner, but definatley not thin.

Thanks for your response . When I shop in the juniors & misses I feel like people are staring at me . and wondering what is that girl doing in this section of clothes. I have never been able to shop anywhere besides Lane Bryant & Fashion Bug. Now I have dropped to regular sizes I have so many choices of where to go, but when there... I am uncomfortable!! I have had people say your so thin now, but then I think they don't want me to lose any more weight because I will weigh less than them. I have 35lbs more to lose to reach my personal goal. People keep saying don't lose anymore (they want me to stay chubby). I think it is all jealousy or they are being kind and don't want to say lose 50 more. I need to just accept the compliment and be proud of how far I have come.
