Anyone in the December crew having problems with severe hair loss? I am losing clumps each day. I am taking my vitamins and eating my protien but it seems to be getting worse. Any suggestions?

I've had a terrible time with hair loss. This happens to me after every surgery I've ever had involving general anesthesia. So it may or may not be nutritionally related. My hair loss has slowed significantly however. I added supplemental biotin to my medication regime. It is available OTC at Walmart. Biotin is a B vitamin that helps with hair and nail health. Of course you should have any change in medication reviewed and approved by your physician first. It also seemed to help when I had some length cut off my hair to reduce the pull and weight of the hair. Also, only brush the hair when necessary and with a brush that doesn't pull the hair. Just know that the hair loss will slow and eventually stop. Many of us have issues with hair loss. Keep up the vitamins and I wonder if youv'e had your bloodwork done recently. If not, you may want to ask your physician to check your levels of B12, ferritin, albumin, etc. There are blood panels they can do to check your nutritional status. Good luck! I had problems starting in March and lasting up until June. The loss is almost none existant for me now. I had my hair cut short to relieve the weight on the root and that helped a lot. I do not wa**** everyday, but I do massage my scalp daily to increase blood flow to the scalp. I use fantastic hair products and treat my hair with great respect. I do not brush or comb it but style it with my fingers. I have wavy, curly hair so that helps. I take my vitamins faithfully and have added a B vitamin product (folic acid, B12, and B6 I get this at Traders Joe, and use it every other day under the tongue it dissolves.) Good luck and remember that the hair is growing back. Monica

I started having bad hairloss about 3 months ago. I have been taking Biotin nightly since coming home from the hospital. Plus, I am pretty anal about making sure I get as close to 80gms of protien a day. I also got my hair cut shorter, and high-lighted. Both of those things combined really seemed to help my hair look fuller. I have also read that using Nioxin shampoo helps alot, but I just couldn't afford it, as it is kinda expensive... even when buying it from Walmarts Beauty Shop. Mine is starting to come back in now, and I have all these wild little fly away hairs that is a new way to drive me nuts. Don't worry, it''ll slow down soon for you. Susan

Hey, I have lost, lets just say, LOTS of hair. My hair use to be to my butt and so thick that I had to really push to wrap a hair band around two times. Now it is long and soooo thin. I can take a hairband and wrap it around three or four times and then just pull to slide it out. My hair was one of the few things that I was proud of. Don't really have any suggestions however about how to stop losing. I am now 7 1/2 months out and it is just beginning to slow down. If someone gives you a good suggestion please pass it on to me. Good luck, Barbara Breaux Louisiana
