hi all... i wonder if i'm gonna be one of the people that only lose so much weight and never make it to 100 lbs. i've lost about 60 so far and i had my surgery 12/6/04. anyone else in this boat or is it just me? i know, the slower the better, and i agree with that. but come on... i wanna lose 100 too!! boo hoo. i'm grateful for the weight loss. i'm grateful to be alive. i'm grateful for the smaller sizes... but i want that 100 lbs. i want to get my tummy tuck after that (next year hopefully). just wanted to b*tch alittle and see if anyone else is a slow loser (as slow as me). but, i can say the scale is still moving to that's something, right? sue

I have only lost 84 and I feel like a "slow loser". I also want desperately to reach my goals, but the slowing down has me worried. I want to break the "200" mark. I want to join the "century club". I want to reach my goals..... all this, but my heart wishes it could happen NOW. Time creeps by so slowly while I am waiting for good things to happen. Good luck to you, too. Karen G 294 / 210 / ??? That's a big reason that I've started backing away from the OH site. Every time I read a post about how much someone has lost, I start comparing myself and thinking that I'm one of the 10% that's going to fail. I read the "what is your height" post, and just ended up depressed when I read about someone who is my same height and they're 25 lbs lighter in the same period of time. I feel like I'll fail at this, just like everything else. I think I need to quit focusing on how everyone else is doing, and just be happy that I've turned my life around. I hope you reach all your goals and that your health is the best ever. Terry

You have to understand that the bigger you are the more weight your going to drop faster but we also slow down. I was 338 pounds when I went for surgery. I wish all I weighted was 238 pounds as I would not have as much to lose. Everyone loses differently. I look at it this way. As long as the pounds are coming off it should not matter if it's 2 pounds or 5 pounds a month you drop, it's coming off Donna 338/198 -140

{{{{Sue}}}} Have faith and it will all come off. There are so many of us on here who see ourselves as slow losers, I included and we all know how frustrated you are, we are also. But you are doing a great job with your weightloss so far and I know that you will make your goals, all of them. I can see how important it is to you and how much you want it, so each day tell yourself that and you will be there before you know it. Take care, Loni 237/148/115 33 lbs. to goal

Hey Sue you can b*tch all you want or need to. This is why we are here to listen, learn, support each other, laugh and maybe cry. Have you ever ever lost 60 lbs before????? in just 6++ months????? Huh?? I know that you are frustrated with your loss, but I think it is wonderful. How old are you??? What did you weigh on surgery day???? How tall are you??? Maybe you didn't have 100+++ lbs to lose!!! Maybe you have a slow metabolism!! So many factors to figure in as to why some lose so much so fast and others don't. Recognize that you have been successful. Recognize that you have been so proactive to take back your life and lose weight like never before. We rearranged our inside plumbing to achieve the weight loss, very dramatic indeed. So take a deep breath. Congraduate yourself and be good to you. This is a life long process a journey not a race. Small steps each day will add up to a big loss and a healthier happier life. I have lost 98 lbs. I have had a very slowed down journey these past 3 months. Not losing the 15-19 lbs per month that I was. But I can see and feel the weight loss even though it does not show on my scale. I am age 57, the fat has been around me, imprisoning me for many many many years. Our bodies do not want to starve and making the brain release the fat, not muscle, is a hard trick and a difficult balancing act. My weight management doctors and nutritionist keep telling me that small steps with a gradual weight loss will produce the sustained loss. This is what we all want. So many factors for us all. Please enjoy your journey. Again be good to you. You so deserve this Susan. Do whatever it takes to validate that you are on the losing side forever. Hugs to you, Monica, on the journey with you side by side.

Amen to all the posts listed here. I hit 50 lbs off since surgery a couple of weeks ago. I did lose 37 pre-surgery, so I've lost 87 in the last year. If I follow my doctor's goal, I have 20-something to 40-something more to go. My goals are 40-something to 60+. I'll have to see what it looks/feels like when I get there. These pounds have been around for 25 years and my body doesn't want to let them go. The scale is moving very slowly, but it is moving. I try to look at the positive aspects. I've not lost any hair. My clothes last longer when I buy new ones. And, I have time to get acquainted with the new me that is surfacing from under all the pounds. I've never seen this person as an adult, so it can be a bit disconcerting at times. I just bought a new car, so I have to pay off that home equity loan before I can take out another one to pay for plastic surgery. Keep up the good work, Sue O.
