Hi Everyone, I had my blood work come back and they said that my Liver Emzymes are high and that they want to recheck it in 3 months. I don't drink alcohol. Does anyone know what it means when your Liver Emzymes are too high? Any info would be appreciated. Mary Salmon

HI MARY INMY CASE... MY LIVER ENZIMES WENT FROM 25 IN JANUARY TO OVER 150 IN MAY... THE DR WAS NOT HAPPY.. SO THEY DID ULTRASOUND OF LIVER AND GALBLADDER... GALBLADDER HAD STONES... THEY WERE BLOCKING THE BILE DUCT AND CAUSING STRESS ON THE LIVER... OR AT LEAST THAT WAS MY INTERPITATION OF WHAT HE SAID... THEREFORE THE BILE BACKED UP AND THE LIVER ENZIMES WENT UP... I HAD MY GALBLADDER OUT LAST FRIDAY.. AND NOW LETS HOPE THE ENZINES GO BACK TO WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO.. GOOD LUCK WITH YOURS... I DON'T KNOW IF THERE ARE OTHER REASONS FOR THEM TO GO UP.. BUT THAT WAS MINE.... BONBON

How long were you out from the gal bladder surgery? Did you have to spend the night in the hospital again? How are you feeling now? your sister in WLS 305/205/?

Wishing surgeons would take gallbladders when they do gastric bypass. I can't count the number of people that go right back under the knife weeks to a few months after gastric bypass. Recent research shows a near 100% chance of gallstone formation after weight loss surgery. Other than GB problems and alcohol use, liver enzymes are usually elevated for reasons such as a new medication or long term medication side effect, mass or tumor, hepatic duct strictures or occlusions, cancer, pancreatic issues, liver failure, etc. Hope everything's OK....
