Back to the Basics for me
Well, here we are. 6 months post op. I have been slipping a little in watching my portion size and the fat and carb content of some foods. Too many chicken select strips from Mcdonalds and too many late night snacks of cheese and crackers. I have been faithfully filling out the fitday.com journal and decided to send to my dietitian. Well she had some advice for me. Get back to the basics! No more than 1/2 cup total per meal. No snacks at night. I got out my nutritional manual and started weighing and measuring everything. After 1 week I lost 7 lbs and broke the 100 lb mark. I am feeling fuller faster now that I concentrate on eating things like chicken breast, salmon, and tuna. I am getting in my water which really does help make me feel full. I guess I just needed a reminder. LOL. I hope everyone is doing well and is enjoying this new life 6 months after surgery.
God Bless

I have to take a step back also! I have been having an attraction to chips. The funny thing is that before surgery I hated them. Now I eat no bread or pasta or rice ever. I do however eat potatoes 4 times a week and in the last 4 days I have been addicted to chips. I need to get back to basics! I am so afraid that I will slip back. I am so happy with the new me but I am so scred that I can slip back.

Michelle,
I think we all have our demons. Mine was Diet Mountain Dew. When I first started trying to drink them post op it took me 4 days to finish a 20 ounce bottle. The day I finished one in 30 minutes I said ENOUGH!!!!!! I have been carbonation free for one month and feel much better for it. My new addiction is Propel fitness water.
Keep on being a loser.
