I'm 6 mos post -op, battling a first plateau and ongoing hair loss. I had hair loss with prior surgeries but that was always repaired with multivitamins and iron. All my lab work is perfect. I'm sure this is a protein thing. I have yet to find a protein supplement I can tolerate. I get most of it from milk which causes constipation, but I guess ya gotta pick your evil. I'm getting a little tired of all the meat. If you guys have any suggestions for decent protein supplements, let me know! I have lost 91 pounds since surgery but was feeling like that wasn't up to par. I would be interested inknowing some of your pre and post op weights. Thanks for everything!

Tammy, Have you tried the Fruit Nectars? It is a protein that tastes like fruit juice. I buy mine from BariatricEating.com and I just love it. I like you also had a tough time with the protein at first till I started using this product. I hope it gets better for you and you are doing amazing with your weightloss. Take care, Loni

Hi Tammy. I too have lost 91 lbs since surgery on 12/06/04. I am age 57 and started my journey at 330 lbs. I am thrilled with my weight loss and so are my doctors. You are doing SO wonderfully women. Remember we did not get MO in an instant and we will achieve our goals by following the rules, being good to ourselves, and making great food and drink choices. I am no doing enough exercise and must break out of my funk and just do it. I am stalled at 239 and have had about 5 weeks at this weight. But I am finding huge changes in MONICA. My fingers are smaller and I had to take off my wedding rings. My feet are smaller and have gone down almost 2 sizes and 2 widths. I purchased clothes in April and May and can no longer wear them they are so big. So I see changes and that does make me proud and happy. Life is so much better all around with these 91 lbs gone. I have experienced hair loss since March. I have thick curly gray and brown hair. It was shoulder lenght and I asked my hairdresser what I should do. She told me not to experiment with various hair loss products to let my hair loss cycle run it's own coarse. My doctors said that this is normal and that our hair loss happens to everyone, some more, some less. I cut my shoulder lenght hair short and with many layers. This helped reduce the weight on the hair follicles since I have heavy thick hair. I love the new cut and it so flatters my new less round face. I do not wash my hair daily anymore. I use good moisture rich products and found from Avon a great, really great olive oil hair mask that I use once a week. I also found at Sephor.com an other olive oil daily conditioner from Frekkai that I massage in each morning that helps keep my hair and scalp moist. Yes I still have hair that falls out but it is less each week. Also much new hair growth is taking place. So I feel that the process is slowing down and my hair and scalp is recovering. Patience is all we can have. My hairdresser explained that I need to massage my scalp daily to stimulate blood flow to the scalp and I do this. I do not use a brush or comb either but only use my fingers to style. Keep up your good work. Don't worry about the hair. You are doing so well. Enjoy your journey as you achieve your goals and success. Monica, hurrah for us all.
