6 Month Check Up
Went into Pitts. Friday for my 6 month check up. I was so thrilled. I'm down 120 pounds now. They were happy for me. We are success stories for them. My surgeon asked me for pictures so I gave him my before and up to date one. I don't have to go back now until my one year anniversary and I'll take another picture with me then. I'm amazed just how much better I feel. I'm walking again, shopping, moving around. I do all sorts of things that I couldn't do last year at this time. I'm breathing so much better, that was the part that scared me. I have asthma and this Pennsylvania humidity almost killed me last year. I still don't like it humid, but I can tolerate it much better. I don't feel like everyone is staring at me when I'm out anymore. I used to be so self-conscious. I have had some bad experiences with people's attitudes about fat folks and children's comments also. Wish we could all be perfect, but I think large people have really had to put up with a lot and we are more tolerant of others. I hope we always stay that way even when we are all "skinny". I'm shocked at the large people that are having to fight the insurance companies for this when it is so much better for us to be smaller. Amen for this wonderful, wonderful tool.
Hi Chandi, Glad you are doing so well also. It's amazing to be able to get the weight off finally and feel so good. Thanks for your kind words. I hope we can be an inspiration to all and help in any way we can. I just can't say enough good things about this surgery. Those who love us are happy for us also. Good luck and keep on the losing track. Carol
Hello Carol. You are doing so very well. Congradulations on 120 lbs gone forever. Yes this surgery is really a great gift. We are all doing well. I am thankful each day for this surgery and the new life I am now living. I too have asthma and breathing problems but with my 91 lbs gone I am breathing better, moving better, living better. I agree so heartfully about the issues regarding being MO and how people percieve us. I now have so much more confidence in Monica. Hurrah for us all.
I too am amazed at the number of insurance companies that are rejecting this surgery. I think, no I know, that we who have had the surgery need to let our insurance companies know how wonderful this surgery has been for us. We have taken back our lives and we are now living and not just existing.
Continued good journey. Carol do you ever visit the Over Fifty Forum (OFF)? I visit there every day and have made fantastic friends. We are planning a trip to New Orleans in January 2006. Right now there are 25 of us going. A bunch of us met (from all over the US) for the East Coast ObesityHelp convention in New Jersey in May. We had such a great time that we formed a group SOS, Slightly Off Sisters. Come visit and share.
Monica
Hi Monica, Thank you for your kind words and wisdom also. I've not visited the over 50 forum, but I will now. I'm so thrilled when I read someone's success story. How great that we are all trying to get healthier. I agree about contacting the insurance companies and I'm looking into that. WOW on your success also. How long has it been for you now? Aren't we amazing and truly wonderful women???? Good luck and God Bless. Carol
