Healthy Snacks??

Ok, Family I need your help. We have one those nasty vending machines at work (hate those things) and I'm finding myself buying a small bag of chips when I'm in a hurry and have so much to do. What are some good snacks I can take to eat in a hurry? I love pepperoni and have been eating that at home. This might be why I'm just sitting between 211 and 213. I also don't get enough water in. I buy turkey jerky. Full of protein. If I have to have something, I reach for that. I buy it at Costco.

I have never tried turkey jerky but I might just do that. Thanks for the suggestion Don't have a Coscto but have a BJ's close by. Donna

Slim jim's are nice for many people. Also keep a box of sealable bags at home and fill it with a snack size portion of dry fruit or nuts.

That's funny you bring up Slim Jim's as I bought one yesterday at work from the Dollar store. I was scared of them for a very long time as I tried to eat them before my pouch was ready to accept them and OUCH I had no ill effects from eating them yesterday. I just made sure I chewed well. Maybe I'll get into the beef jerky kick Donna 338/211 -128

Dear Donna, I keep a box of protein bars in my desk. Quaker Q-Smart bars have 120 cals and 10 protein grams. They are less than $4 a box at WalMart. Premiers' Protein bars have 280 cals and 30-31 grams of protein. They are about $13 for a box of 12 at Sam's. I have also found that baby carrots and the little cans of tomato juice curb the munchies. -Angie 302/203

Hey Donna I keep the South Beach Diet Bars(and cookies) at my desk 140 calories with 10g protein and lots of nuts. I also keep the walmart brand of crstal lite little packs for my water. I am addicted to the orange sunrise. This helps me keep my water intake up. I also do cheeses, slim jims, and pork skins(all different flavors). Hope this helps. Deana

I agree about the Q Smart and South Beach bars. I also do the little bags of peanuts from Costco. Great price, and I'm more likely to eat just one ounce. I can't control myself if I get a big jar of them!! I also have been getting the Breyer's Light yogurt (50% fewer calories, 70% less sugars) in 4 oz cups, in strawberry and key lime. Add a dollop of light cool whip, and it's heavenly!! Only 8 carbs in the yogurt, so I think it's ok, and 4 grams of protein. Of course, you do need a fridge nearby. Also for the fridge, how about the little cheeses that come in light or regular, one ounce circles? I forget the name. Great protein! Sometimes I slice one up and put it on low-fat/carb crackers. Delish! I keep a box of the peanuts at work and in the car, for snack-attacks. And I think that the salt makes me drink more, so that's a good thing, too! BTW, you are doing GREAT for 6 months! Donna, I keep crystal lite orange sunrise in my desk and I drink them all day long. Beef jerky or nuts are good for a snack or pork rinds,,they are in our machinew at work.
