-84 @ 5 1/2 months out....
Hey my fellow WLS friends. So far, I am -84, for my 6 months out check-up, but officially my six month out date is 6/20! I am just so happy to be doing so much better, feeling healthy and well. No more insulin, or any other meds. I am doing well, but had a question about lower back pain.
I know that due to the weight loss, my skelton has shifted. I am currently in physical theraphy, but want to know what others are doing!
Congrats to everyone here, and I look forward to your expertise and responses!
Also, I posted some new pics at the bottom of my profile. Be sure to check out my sexy self!

Great to be back!

Good to be taking with you Vera. You are doing very well. This journey is wonderful, yes indeed.
I am having bad arm pain and loss of range of movement. I fell in the summer of 2003 onto my knees, but my left arm hooked onto a dinning room chair and helped break my fall. I got a huge bruise, but no real pain. At the ER, the doctor asked me if I could move my arm and I could with no problems. Now however this has changed. I saw a rehab doctor on Monday. He explained that since I have lost 90 lbs, my arm is hanging differently and that I have 2 rotator cuff injuries and will need to have PT to help the muscles regain strength and range of motion. So this is a medical structural problem that was masked by my obesity. My bad arthritic knees are still bad and damanged, however I can function much better now and the pain is not as severe as it was last December.
Good luck with your back problems.
Monica
Hi Vera,
I have been given some advice to pass along to you by my friend who is a personal trainer. She said that as we lose, our tummy muscles are becoming more lax because the fat, believe it or not, supported them (I on the other hand, have had 3 c-sections, my appendix out and this surgery, so I probably have no muscles left!). Anyway, she said abs and oblique exercises are important for us at this time. I am doing extra sit ups the old fashioned way before bed and have added the twist where I put my opposite elbow to the other side, etc. I hope this helps. I know that these can be modified, but check with your physical therapist before starting this. She said there are also great exercises to do with tension bands and in the water that are less stressful. I'm sorry you, Monica and some of the others are feeling this pain. I wonder if it is an adjustment period for your muscles and bones? I know my balance was off a little and all of my shoes were so loose that it hurt my back because I was walking a certain way to keep my feet from slipping in the shoes. I had to buy new shoes and it has helped a lot that they fit better.
Well keep us up to date and I am praying for you!
Love,
Fran
