Dental issues anyone?
There were no problems at my dental cleaning 3 months ago. I now have 8 "cavities" (areas where the tooth enamel has eroded) at the gum line. My dentist is going to fill them and also recommended floride treatments. I am taking my vitamins and getting my protein in as prescribed. Has this happened to anyone else?

YES!! I have not had a cavity or any problems with my teeth in 22 years. Now I have 2 cracked teeth and a cavity. I had my first root canal last week and I need another one. I am still in pain from it because I couldn't take any of the anti-inflammatory drugs afterwards. I didn't even think about it being related to the WLS. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone. I just hope this doesn't mean I will end up with a mouth full of dentures in a few years.

I am so glad I am not the only one!!
I am a Dental Assistant and I am having massive sensitivity. I have been giving myself flouride treatments and they are still super sensitive. I am afraid to have an exam by my boss for fear of cavities.
My boss (the Dentist) thinks that I am grinding and clenching from stress and causing my sensivity and fracturing.
So glad it is not just me!
I talked to my boss ( the dentist) extensively allready. I may talk to him again since it is recurring with many of us.
He thinks the stress of going through the surgery has some effects, but he also thinks that the Propel and the flavored drinks I have been consuming has had negative affects on my teeth. The Propel, Snapple, Crystal Lite and Sobe Leans all have acid in them. Tons of acid!!! I never drank that stuff everyday like I am now and the cavity causing bacteria LOVE acid. It has been proven that drinking sports drinks are as bad as drinking sugared sodas.
I quit drinking that stuff everyday and have it occasionally. I am giving myself fluoride treatments.
ACT has a fluoride rinse you can purchase at the stores. You rinse with it and leave it on your teeth for 30minutes afterward (no eating or drinking for 30 minutes after rinsing).
He doesn't think the lack of nutrition can cause such a cavity issue so quickly. He thinks clenching/grinding and the acid in the flavored drinks are the stuff to blame.
Hope this helps!

Hi Angie and Everyone,
I usually have a cavity or two each check up. But I had a check up by my Dentist and my teeth have come to a place were it will cost me $6,000.00 to get them all back in shape.
I considering Dentures because it will cost 1/2 as much and I will be done with it. Any Opinions on this?

I had an episode lke this when I went to college. My parents faithfully sent us to the dentist every 6 months when I was growing up. I had a few cavities, but nothing major. I didn't need braces. During my freshman year in college, I went to the dentist and I had 22 cavities. The only thing changed in my diet at that time was rinking more sugar-free soda. Fixing them wasn't a huge thing, as my dentist was very generous with the Novacaine. We did half a mouth at one time.
That was 30 years ago. Many of those fillings have been replaced by new fillings. I've had a few extractions, a root canal, and a couple of crowns. But, I've been pretty stable for the last few years. I'm only 6 months post op, and not due to go back to the dentist until July. I did have more plaque than normal at my January visit.
I probably don't brush enough. And I hate flossing (which my dentist is well aware of). My dentist encouraged me to use a mouthwash after brushing, which is supposed to be as effective as flossing in reducing plaque. The bottle is sitting on the side of the sink and I've only used it twice. Bad girl!
