Hey December crew - question for ya. I'll be six months out on June 15th. I've heard that as soon as you hit six months out you start losing only about four pounds a month. I still have about 40-45 pounds to lose to get to my "goal". I posted this question on the main board and have not rec'd even one response. Does anyone know if this is true or not? Thanks guys! Oh my goodness, I hope not but I'm interested in hearing the answer. My six month mark will be June 14th. My weight loss has slowed dramatically already. Daisy G

Hey Daisy, I know all of our weight loss has slowed dramatically. I guess we knew it would, but we are still doing great. You had your surgery the day before I did. I did get one response on the main board that someone's weightloss slowed to 1/2 pound a week after six months. I think it is different for everyone. We'll find out soon. Hugs, Candy p.s. I love your name!

I'm not too sure about that, I only just hit 5 months and have a month to go before my 6 month mark. I've been losing at a steady pace. Maybe ask the people that are in the October boards since they are over the 6-7 month mark. But you are doing great! Remember your protien, water and exercise! I still got 100+ to go Take care Dee 371/279/1** 91 lbs gone forever as of today

I have heard that most people lose the most weight in the first six-months. After that, the weight loss begins to taper off. My Dr. told me that I will continue to lose up to 15-18 months out. So if that is the case, even at 4 pounds a month, you will still have time to reach your goal.

Thanks! I had heard that also, just wanted to the facts. I guess I'm impatient to be where I want to be! ha ha Have a great day! Candy

My surgeon said that at six months the pouch begins to "relax" and we are able to eat more. Not only that, but our body is beginning to adjust to the caloric difference. So the weight loss slows down dramatically. But we will be able to keep losing til we are 18 months out. He said to make sure I keep up the exercise, protien and water. Those are the keys to success. He also said that the bigger you are, the more you will lose. The body adjusts on it's own. So if you only have 30lbs left to go compared to someone who has 100lbs left to go then you will slow down quicker than the larger person. We will all see in time what is to come. ~Becky -90

I will be at 6 months out next week. December 8th. I have always been hesitant on making a goal because I hate to diappoint myself. I finally made one to be down 120 pounds by halloween. I saw my Dr. yesterday and told him my goal. He said it is completely realistic. I have lost 93 pounds already. That puts me at 30 pounds in the next 4 months. Everyone is different but He said that the more people lose the more energy you get. If you choose to take advantage of it then you will continue on a higher weight loss(although you main gain muscle). But he said that a lot of people tend to just lay back and let the surgery do all the work. Your weight loss can depend on what you choose to do. I also think it has to do with how much you have to left to loose. Good luck and remember that we are all here for you when it slows! Chandi 305/212/?

You know, Chandi...30 pounds in 4 months sounds alot more realistic than 20 pounds in 2 months!! Our surgeon turns us over to a bariatric clinic at 3 months post-op. Well, I went for my first appt a few days ago and the nurse asked what my goal is. I told her that I'd like to be down to 160 or 170. She said ok, that means that you have to lose 120 pounds total. I said right. Then she goes, well, by your next appt on August 1, I'd like to see you down another 20 pounds. I'm like, yeah right. It's taken me 5 months to lose 57 pounds!! How in the world am I gonna lose 20 in 8 weeks?!?! I think the chic was losing it. But she said that her reason is because at that point, (77 pounds), I'll be 2/3rds of the way to my goal and she could better tell where I'll be at 18 months. I am not sure where to even begin to try to reach that mark. At least not without going back a phase or two. (Easier said than done) Oh, well. What comes off, comes off and that's that. ~Ashley RNY 12/27/04 286/229/170(hopefully )
