New update on my little one........
Susan happy for you and your son. You have hard work ahead of you, but I think you have found some good professionals who care about Nick and his future. You may need to resort to a lawyer who specializes in pediatric disability cases. The hospital where Nick is now should have a discharge nurse, case management nurse, or social worker who might have names of lawyers who handle these cases. Nick should be allowed to obtain any and all benefits for his condition and problems. Do not try to go this alone. There is help out there for you.
Best of luck. Hope Nick comes home and that he continues on a path which leads him to peace within and less frustration.
Monica
Thanks Monica...
I think we (I) are finally on the right path... I have found his social worker is lacking in a few things, mostly her communication skills... But luckily for me, I have worked in the healthcare field for the last 25 years, and know how to obtain resources myself. All the information I have gotten so far, I have found on my own. I am seriously considering asking for one of the other Social workers to work with us. I feel as though his current Social Worker and I just don't quite connect. One of the other ones that I had a family session with over the weekend is great, and I feel I had a good connection with her. I will have to work through the process of Nick getting his disability. Right now we are working at getting him deemed disabled, and then we can go through all of the other processes for the SSI, and other benefits available to him. My biggest hurdle through all of that is that I have a very good job, and make fairly decent money, and have health insurance already, so that hampers my chances for much in the community service areas. We'll get there somehow though...
Thanks for your well wishes...
Susan
