Hi, I had my surgery in March but I am so nervous about the hair falling out I jumped back a few months to hear it from you. Is it bad? Can I stop it? Am I getting all worked up over nothing?? Does it grow back? Should I relax?? Any information please.... THANKS!!

Kathleen, My hair is shedding fast. This is normal after a fast weight loss and it will grow back. Just relax and enjoy the weight loss. Continue to get our protein and water in. I started uping my protein after my hair started coming out by the hand fulls and it seemed to help some. I also got a perm and color and my hair dresser said it was okay as long as it wasn't coming out in patches and mine is not. Also continue your vitamins because they help also. Hope this helps some. Oh yes the hair falling out is a freaky thing, but hold on to yourself, it grows back. I began the hair loss about 3 months ago, in March. I had my surgery in 12/06/04. I have thick curly hair and it was shoulder lenght. My hairdresser and I decided to cut it short in layers. I am happy with the style. I purchased an olive oil based hair treatment from Sephora.com called Frekkai. I use it every day for extra moisture. You can't keep the hair from falling out but you can treat your remaining hair and the new hair to good nutrition. I also purchased an olive oil hair mask from Avon that I use once a week. My hair is healthy, has much new growth, feels wonderful. I do not wa**** every day, I massage my scalp every day with my fingers to promote increased blood supply. The new hair is coming in and the loss has slowed down so much. Hang in there, enjoy your weight loss and the journey. Monica

HI KAT! CONGRATS ON YOUR SURGERY. WE'LL LISTEN I CAN'T SAY NOT TO WORRY, (YOU'LL DO THAT ANYWAYS) BUT THAT'S STRESS THAT YOU DON'T NEED. STRESS=HAIR LOSS TOO! MY HAIR HAS BEEN THIN...AND I AM LOSING LOTS OF HAIR, BUT I'M TAKING IT LIKE A SOLDIER. I DO ALL MY PROTEIN AND TAKE 3000MCG OF BIOTIN (THIS PROMOTES HEALTHY HAIR AND NAILS) BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?? IT STILL FALLS OUT. NO MATTER WHAT YOU'LL DO, IT WILL FALL OUT. SOME NOTICE A LOT...SOME HARDLY NOTICE IT. BUT EVERYONE WILL LOSE..THE GOOD THING IS THAT IT'S GONNA GROW BACK... I SEE LITTLE HAIRS IN THE FRONT OF MY HAIR..I THINK ITS' HILARIOUS CAUSE AS MUCH AS I TRY TO PUT HAIRSPRAY TO KEEP THOSE SMALL HAIRS DOWN, THEY STILL MANAGE TO DO THE ALPHALPHA LOOK. YOU'LL BE OKAY. JUST KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING... AND BE GOOD TO YOUR POUCH TAKE CARE, GRACIE

Hi Kathleen, I have had this happen to me once before after a surgery for a pregnancy loss 3 years ago. It will come back. I started to lose hair in the beginning of the 4th month and I really notice it now, but I know it will come back, so I am styling it by "placing it" where I want it to go, ha ha! Anyway, we will all get through it together. Good luck! I just didn't want you to think you were alone in this! Fran

My hair started falling out about six weeks ago. I'm glad to report that although it is still falling out, it's not falling out at the rate that it was when it first started. Some people do not lose their hair... a lady that posts on the Florida message board (Jan Ocala) never experienced hair loss. She's the only one I know of though... LOL Good luck on your journey! ~ Trish
