hernia!

I have to go in for hernia repair immediatly. I am going in on Wednesday to have it removed. It is actually painfull. I think it is mainly from my work. ( I wait tables and carry some pretty heavy trays) Not it even hurts when I take a deep breathe or straighten my back. I am worried about after the surgery. Has anyone had hernia removal? Can you tell me if it is worse recovery than open rny? I did not have too hard of time but had to stay out of work for 12 weeks after my open wls. Is there anything I should know about recovery to make it easier? Do I need to bring anything with me to the hospital? How long was your stay in the hospital? I know it is a lot of questions- sorry about that- but I appreciate your answers. Thank you in advance!
