Does anyone feel like this surgery just did not work for them?
Sometimes I feel like I am never going to lose anymore weight. I feel like the surgery did not work. Its coming off so slow right now. It seems like everyone else dropped 100 pounds in no time and I am struggling. I am watching what I ea****ching the portions, exercising drinking water. any suggestions? I am on potassium pills, but I am tired all the time. I also have developed bags under my eyes. Some people say this is part of the surgery. Anyone else feel this way?
From past posts with the same question, I think a lot of us are in the same boat. In my case, my weight loss has slowed dramatically. The past few weeks I've only lost about 1 lb per week. I was talking to my friend who had the surgery and she said she went through the same pattern. She would not see much weight loss for weeks and then it would start dropping again. She has lost over 100 lbs in one year and looks great. I think there are more like us and the ones who drop 100 lbs in no time are the exception. But maybe I'm wrong. Just hang in there and remember you are still going to lose even if it has slowed.

You are doing great!!!!
Remember that some peoples body reacts differently. Just think of it this way.. the slower you loose.. hopefully the less likely you will have to have ps. I had slowed to 2lbs per week for a month. Then actually gained a pound. 2 weeks ago I lost 5 lbs. Last week I lost a pound. And because I could not wait... I weighed today (I usually only weigh on friday's, but have started a new exercise reg and wanted to see if it seemed to work) and have lost 2lbs since friday, but am not counting those yet!!!!.
So the short answer is.... just consentrate on portion control... no caffine, no sugar, and drink lots and lots of water... My secret weapon is Sam's Choice. I buy a case and make sure I drink at least 3 bottles a day. One prior to lunch, one after lunch, and one in the late afternoon or night.
Good luck... YOU CAN DO IT... just stay encouraged!

Thanks, I know it will eventually move. I get impatient. I am trying to fit in to my smaller clothes. I noticed your in Alabama and had Dr Ringold. Hes a cutie! I had dr snow. you have done very well with your weight loss. So you sometimes feel like you are eating alot? With certain foods, my stomach feels like a bottomless pit.

Yeah I like Dr. Ringold... he does not have alot of bedside manner... But he knows what he is doing and I like that alot. You have done well.... 70 lbs is awsome. I do know what you mean about the everyone else dropping 100 lbs. I am happy for them, but also wish I were there also. But our bodies do not work that way.
I have more problems with the head game. I want to continue eating but my stomach (I refuse to call it a pouch) does not want anymore. I do fear overeating alot though. Just make sure you stop when full.
I did read last night in a book to work out in the morning before you eat and it helps you loose weight, because your body had to use your fat calories and not the food calories you consume.
If I can ever help or you just need someone to grip to let me know!

Not everybody loses quickly. I've lost 43 lbs in the 6 months since surgery. I've had many stalls, losing a couple of pounds and then sitting for several weeks, every since my surgery. It can be very frustrating when you see others losing huge amounts and you don't. I did make an appointment with an endocrinologist to have my thyroid assessed, to make sure that the treatment that I'm on is appropriate.
I found that adding a B12 supplement helped me with the tiredness.
I've not developed bags under my eyes, but the skin on my face/under the chin seems looser than before I lost any weight. My face is smaller that it used to be, but now the skin is looser. I'm almost 50 and would guess that ase has started working on the elasticity of my skin.

Is it true that you have lost 68 pounds so far? That is awesome. I have only lost 43 pounds. You want to talk about slow! I would be very happy if I was in your shoes. I am trying to learn to be grateful for whatever I lose and it is not easy when I hear others with much greater success than I. Congratulations on your weight loss so far.

come on now girlfriend... you are -68. Where you there this time last year?
Of course, it is working. Look at the results so far.
You don't want too loose too much too fast, as I hear the weight comes back on those individuals quicker. YOu want to loose naturally, even though you had surgery, your body needs to loose at its own pace, not a 'forced' pace.
Just sit back... no, correction, don't sit back. Just relax and let the feelin' flow!
