My poor baby....

OK y'all, it's once again my turn to ask for lots of prayers and good thoughts... but this time for my little one... well, and at this point, I guess me too.... Some of you already know that my 8 yr old has ADHD, Bi-Polar Disorder, and Intermittant Rage Outburst disorder. We have been having a really rough time for the last few months, and his behavior has been on a downward spiral. We have been working diligently on trying to adjust medications to get him where he could function ok in the real world, but with no sucess. He has been suspended from school 4 times in the last 5 weeks for having these 'fits of rage' and while in his fits, he loses all control, and has ended up hurting people. Wednesdays suspension was the final straw when he threw a chair at his pregnant teacher. I just got home from Atlanta from having him inpatient admitted to an acute care psych unit to attempt to get him on a medication regimen that will allow him to deal with the real world. It absolutely breaks my heart that I had to leave him so far away from me and home, but I also know I can't let him continue the way he was. I would never forgive myself if he hurt someone so severely, or even worse. So now I am sitting here in this quiet house, all alone, and feeling sorry for myself. Just think of me and my little one, and say a prayer that we both will make it thru this extra rough time... Thanks everybody.... Susan

Susan, my heart is heavy for your child and you. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Such sadness for your little boy and for you as his mom. Hopefully the medical and psych providers can help stablize him, bring him peace in his heart, mind, and soul. These special children do not ask for the hard times. My now 21 year old son has had a difficult road in life. He has a severe learning disability and does not learn like a normal person. He had much anger at life because he was different and people around him could see how hard he had to work to learn. Finally at age 10 he had a wonderful teacher who helped him accept the fact that he had a learning disability, but that he was still a valuable, productive, creative human being. This teacher helped make him believe in himself amoung his pears. Wow the difference that made. Hugs Monica

Susan, I'm so sorry for what you are going through. As a parent there is nothing worse in the world than knowing that we can't help our children and have to turn to others, but I'm sure that you have done the best that you could do to help him. I can tell that you love him very much and want the best for him and I'll pray that he gets the help that he needs. I will also keep you in my prayers, I know this must just be breaking your heart. Your going to make it through and if you need any help please don't hesitate to ask, we all love you and are here for you. God Bless youa and your son, Loni

I'm so sorry about your son. Please check out www.nami.org. You can talk to someone, and find resources near you. The most important thing they offer is the knowledge that you're not alone, and you're a great mother.

Susan, I am so sorry ...I can't imagine how hard that must have been for you. But just remember, God doesn't give us anything that we cannot handle. He knew that you would take good care of your special baby and make the right decisions for him. I pray that you will have peace in your heart, and that everything will turn out for the best. Take a deep breath and have faith. Your OH friend, Julie
