Does it ever end??????
Hi Gang;
Well it has been some time since I have posted but I need some
It has been almost 7 weeks since I have lost any weight. Those scales refuse to move. No matter how hard I try it stays on 260,261,262 and will not move. I called my nut yesterday and all she said was it was not uncommon at this stage to do this and wants me to start weight training. That sounds good with exception of the fact that I work 12 to 14 hours a day and trying to get any exercise in at all is a real chore. I don't know about you guys but to be real honest I am having to go to @ 9pm just to have the energy to be at work on time the next day and make it on through the day and then I catch myself wanting to nod out about 4 or 5 in the afternoon. I have begun to think I am a hopeless cause and as much as I try not to I find myself wondering if I did this all for naught. Please no flaming now as I really feel bad enough now. I really don't mean to whine and snival but this is the only place I feel comfortable talking about this and I thank you guys for listening and caring enough to try and help me get through this. Hopefully this will soon be all over with and the scale god will smile on me and let those #'s begin to move again Your Not losing Friend,
James
HI James,
I just posted regarding the same thing. I can't seem to find time in my day for exercise and it's definitely what's lacking in my day. The scale is moving very slowly and I feel like a plateau is on the way. I'll be checking your post to see if you get any advice that differs from what I requested.
Best of luck to you. One thing I can say is that it was definitely not for 'naught'! It was a decision made for a better you and we'll both find a way to break through our barriers!!
Hanging in there with you,
~Ashley

It will happen again James... You will start to lose again. I know these plateaus are aggravating, but they do happen. I have gone thru 3 plateaus total. 2 short one, and 1 very long one. I will gain and lose the same 3-4 lbs over and over and over for weeks on end. I think I am back into another plateau again too. Just bear with it, and know that it will start back up again soon, and that we are here for support for you.

Dear James,
I feel badly for you. I too have struggled with a slow loss, 48 lbs since rny 12-20-04. I am a single mother, I get home from work around 6 pm then its dinner - homework - bath - reading time - clean up - laundry - bed - and then at 9-9:30 I am passed out myself, only to get up at 5:30 AM to start over again. I have thought about getting up at 5 AM to run/walk the treadmill for a half hour before making lunches and getting everyone ready for the day - but just the thought, is exhausting enough!!!
What I remind myself is that 48 lbs is a good loss and my eating style has changed for the better. My "tool" is there if I try to eat too much. Over time as our bodies adjust there is no doubt that we will continue to lose, though perhaps not as quickly as we had hoped. If we can add weight training or other exercise we will lose faster. Someone posted that it is a simple matter of energy in vs. energy out. I think that is true, eventually the scales will move.
I know that it is hard to be patient. Keep making good hi protein food choices. Consider a thyroid check too.

I have 6 kids, I work 60 plus hours a week and my husband is Iraq for a year. Finding time to exercise was hard, but I knew that I had to make some serious changes if WLS was going to work for me. I had to replace what I used to do for socializing (going to resturants, having Bar B Ques or food centered get togethers) with healthier activities. I also knew that I was going to have to exercise.
I knew that if I wasn't enjoying the exercise I wasn't going to do it. Since I love the water I joined water aerobics. I absolutely love it, so I go regularly. And guess what after two weeks of regular exercise I had more energy. Lots of it. I sleep more soundly and get more done during the day.
Exercise has made me stronger, so for vacation I went to a ranch and went horse back riding. Next month I am going kayaking. This summer white water rafting. My familiy and friends are getting into the act and getting healthier too.
I have since added the gym and hatha yoga to my work out schedule. Next I will start to incorporate the beginners running plan found at (www.) coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml called couch to 5k. I wish I would have found this plan months ago, because it is something I can do in 30 minutes each morning.
I have found that exercising gives me more energy. If you can do it for 2 weeks you can make it a habit. It is only the first two weeks that you struggle. After that the endorphines kick in and you don't want to skip a work out.
You know you need to exercise. Find something that sounds like fun to you. Then promise yourself you will do it for two weeks no exceptions. During that two weeks don't miss a session and give it 100%. I promise in two weeks you will feel better, have more energy and (Gasp) even start to look forward to working out.
If I can do it, I know anyone else can.
Good luck to you
Just do it

I had my LAP RNY on the same day as you. I was at 220 for a month or so and then I have lost 15 pounds in a week. Don't fret, I think it will start again soon. Just keep doing what you're doing. If you try to add and change things too much, you will get discouraged. I go to bed at 9:00 or 9:30 too because I wake up at 4:45 a.m. and then go outside for an hour walk with my Golden Retriever. I live in Arizona and I am trying to beat the heat, which will be here very soon. I don't work 14 hours a day, but I work downtown and take the bus too and from Chandler to Phoenix Monday through Friday. I am away for 12 hours. I don't have much energy for anything else either, but it will all be worth it when we ge to goal and then all we have to do is maintain. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!
