Jamie, This sounds like what happened to me a couple of months ago and I actually went to the ER thinking that I was having a heart attack. It turned out to be my pouch in a spasm due to some pain meds that I took for a migraine. Let me tell you I thought I was dying and it's different from the feeling of food not going down fast enough. My surgeon told me that if this happens again to try and drink some warm tea or water to help my pouch calm down. He also told me that this can be pretty common. Let me know if you need anymore help. Hugs, Loni

Sure, I had it when my food wasn't going down quick enough. When I overfilled my pouch, It would feel like I had swallowed lead. It hurt like I was having a heart attack, then, it was gone completely, like it never came... till the next time. Try chewing more, and eating much more slowly. That is the only thing that helps me.

Hi, Yes that is what it is, whenyou eat to fast or to much it causes like a back up almost and it does hurt, like a heart attack. I have had it wuite a few timed in fact one of the times I had to throw up after about 45 minutes and then the pain was gone, otherwise it just takes as long as it takes to digest it through your new tummy. I have had the same problem on occasion, before and after surgery. I don't know what it is, but just like you, I felt it all the way to my back and it would keep me up at night tossing and turning. It effected me before surgery, too, and I always assumed it was really bad gas. You just reminded that I should ask my doctor about it, but when the pain gone, pain forgotten

It's funny that you post this now. Yesterday for the first ime since my surgery, I had a pain in my pouch. I had heard of others complaints that they had pain in their pouches for variouos reason, but I never had. I had eaten too much, and no pain, I had not chewed well enough and while I got nauseated and had to throw up, I still had no pain in my pouch. But yesterday, I had not eaten anything for some time, and out of the blue, my pouch had a pain. I tried to drink a protien shake thinking that might help, but it didn't. Even after lunch, it still hurt. By last night the pain was finally gone. Not sure what caused it, but I'm glad it quit. I feel fine today, and hopefully t'll stay that way. Jamie Do you still have your gall bladder? I had pains like that years ago, way before surgery and it was due to gall stones. I know a lot of people have gall bladder problems after this type of surgery, so if you still have yours, consult your doctor right away because it can become serious. Jamie
