Help!!! Getting Worried
Surgery date was 12/22 and this is the first "problem" I've had since. I need to know if anyone else has had this problem...I've already called the doctor and they hadn't had this come up w/anyone else, so I'm turing to those who've had the RNY done.
Friday late afternoon, early evening I started feeling pressure (like gas building), so I didn't think much of it and figured it would go away. Prior to this happening I had a portion of a steak (very tender meat) soft taco, and I really don't eat flour tortillas because they don't seem to go down well...I figure I should include what I ate. Later that evening, I had some raw carrot chips, but I had already been feeling the pressure feeling, but none of the popping feeling like w/gas. The feeling didn't go away through the night and still had it on Saturday. Didn't eat much that day, only soups. Food has passed completly though, but the last two days, it doesn't seem as much as normal. I had some soda (I don't usually drink sodas) on Saturday afternoon to maybe try to eleviate some of the pressure or at least get it to pop, and it did seem to work...the pressure seemed to pass Saturday night. Well, Sunday morning and still today, I've been feeling sore. It is in one spot, on my left side. I can sit still and don't feel a thing, but if I move in certain ways, or walk or take a deap breath, I can feel the soreness. My mother said that it could have been a gas pocket and that's why I'm sore...the doctor's office didn't have any other advise except to drink a lot of water because maybe it was somehting I ate and it is sitting...and wait another day and if it doesn't seem better to call back. I'm starting to get worried, so I would appreciate any feedback.

As long as it passed and the Doctors ofice did not seemed worried I would not lose sleep over it. It's when it won't go away that I would start worrying about.
I have had so many different aches and not what since having surgery. I know for me the stomach muscles would hurt and it was due to my job and picking things up.

HI JAMIE,
MY NAME IS LEIYA AND I HAD OPEN GASTRIC BYPASS ON 12/08/04.
I JUST RECENTLY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. MY SURGEON PRESCRIBED PRILOSEC AND HE TOLD ME TO TAKE SOME MILK OF MAGNESIA. SO FAR SO GOOD. THE PRESSURE HAVE GONE AWAY. DOCTOR STATED THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN A COMBINATION OF GAS AND COSTIPATION. HOPE I HELPED A LITTLE.
