OKAY-Let me have it
Oh yes.... you are not alone....
I have gained and lost the same 4 lbs over and over again, up until a bout a 5 days ago. Since then I have lost 7 more lbs. It is strange, but I guess like all the vets say, our bodies just have to catch up to the big weight loss. All along in my 7-8 week plateau, I was still losing inches, even though the lbs were only moving 4 lbs back and forth.

I've had this problem off and on since surgery. My pattern is to lose a few pounds and then sit for 2-3 weeks. The longest stall was 3-1/2 weeks. My total loss since surgery is 36 lbs. I also lost 37 before surgery.
The stalls initially made me a crazy person. The first few times, I was scared to death that something was broken since surgery, that I was doing something wrong. I cursed the scale for not moving even one crummy pound. Finally, I calmed down and realized that this is what my pattern will be. I only weigh myself on Saturdays now.
During the stalls I usually notice that I am shrinking. Have you taken your measurements?
During each stall, I try to find a goal to focus on to reduce my frustration. My past goals have included increasing my protein to recommended daily levels, increasing my water consumption, exercising daily, exercising more intensely. My current goal is to keep my heart rate in the proper target zone to encourage fat loss.
As long as you follow our golden rules: protein first, drink enough liquid to remain hydrated, exercise, then the scale will move again. Being patient is the hardest part.
Keep up your good work--
Sue
Hi Candy,
I am going through the same thing. I had my surgery on 12/27/04 and I have lost 42 lbs. and that keeps going back and forth. I get really frustrated too. I joined Curves last week (and really enjoy it by the way) and I can tell my cloths are getting looser but the scale doesn't move...
I'm not happy with how I'm not loosing more and my doc isn't pleased either...He still wants me to stay under 800 calories a day...I stay pretty close to that and some days don't get that much. And I am exercising pretty much every day...BUT...after reading all your responses I feel that maybe I'm just in a stall right now and I'm not going to panic and if all else fails then I'll go back on the liquids for awhile and see if that will not jump start the loss again. My doctor wants me to get in about 80 grams of protein a day and that is impossible to do with eating alone and still keep the calorie count down...(even if I could eat that much -which I can't) so I use protein drinks to suppliment my protein...but those drinks have 220 calories in them. I believe you are doing great and with each one of us there will be a difference in how we lose and how fast and so forth and so on. So don't be discouraged , there are some of us out here that are losing it slowly also and each time we think it has stopped or that there is something wrong , the scale will move again for us and we will see that it does still come off , just maybe at a slower pace...God Bless you and have a Blessed EAster! You have lost what, 55lbs so far? That's wonderful and it's normal to drop quickly at first and then slow down.
I'm sitting at 248lbs for the passed two weeks but I'm giving my body time to adjust and lose at it's own pace, plus I have some stress going on in my lfie which is a known factor for affecting your over all health. I do know that I'm losing inches because of the way my clothes are fitting so maybe your dropping inches and not pounds
