Grocery list help...Almost 12 weeks post-op
I'm eating just about anything I want (no sweets tho)... The only thing I've discovered that the pouch doesn't like is Chinese stuff... Makes me
I eat lotsa chicken as my main protein source and usually 1 time a week I will have a "red meat" such as hamburger... I haven't tried steak as I think that would still be too tough to digest... Also eating lots of salad with grilled chicken...
I also like to make pan-fried chicken with some mozarella or cheddar on top... I take a chicken breast (boneless, skinless) and pound it as flat as possible... Sprinkle it with some Lawry's season salt and parmesan (both sides)... I spray the pan with Pam (or a little pat of butter) and just brown the chicken in the skillet... Once both sides are browned I cover the skillet and add a little bit of water so the chicken stays moist... When the inside is done, I just add some cheese and melt it on there... This is really good IMO... I can only eat about half a breast so this lasts me two meals... Give it a try sometime!!
Have fun shoppin for some goodies!! Hope that you're doing well too...

Hi Melissa! congrats on moving to other foods! It makes the journey much more pleasant!
I make a delicious italian chicken for me and my family. I serve it with either rice or pasta. I don't eat the pasta, by choice...don't want to compromise weight loss...and just eat the chicken and veggies.
I also eat string cheese (they are nice because it's packaged in 1 oz. servings), any kind of lowfat cheese, cottage cheese, beans. You'll just need to introduce foods one at a time, to see what you can tolerate.
7-8 chicken breasts
1 bottle of fat free italian dressing
1 jar of banana peppers
1 can of italian diced tomatoes
OPTIONAL - 1 jar of artichokes (in water) or rinse the oil off. Put in right before serving just to let it warm throughly.
Place all breasts in crock pot; turn on high for 4 hours; put in dressing, peppers, and tomatoes. Make sure that the chicken is covered equally with ingredients. Prior to serving, put artichokes over chicken to warm. Serve over rice or any kind of pasta. ENJOY!
If you like you may use beef in place of the chicken...I personally like chicken best.

Hi Melissa,
I like to buy the rotisserie chickens that are already prepared and I cut up strips and put them on a bed of lettuce (I buy the pre mixed lettuce in the bag) and add chick peas, low fat Cracker Barrel cheddar cheese, almond slices, craisins, etc. and I love Balsamic vinegar on it. I eat a lot of chicken, eggplant, skim ricotta cheese, chili from Wendy's, low-fat soups, meatloaf, soft cooked veggies, spinach, string cheese, beans, fish, etc. I am still not eating bread, pasta or rice so I am getting my carbs from fruit, etc. I love mandarin oranges, bananas, pears in juice, canteloupe, peaches and strawberries. I also nibble a protein bar throughout the day. I have also had Swiss Miss sugar free/fat free hot chocolate (they use Splenda) and I thin it out with Skim Plus milk from Parmalat.
Happy shopping!

Hey Melissa,
I was cleared to eat anything that I could at two weeks out. I stay clear of anything with sugar, and all breads, rice, any white carbs. I really stick to baked or grilled seafood. I eat a lot of shrimp, scallops, and fish. I also eat a lot of fresh vegetables, grilled or steamed. Hope this helps.

Funny how each dr is different... I was clear to eat anything back in Jan... I try to eat high protein low fat and carbs.... this means lean meats and cheeses... I can easily eat potatoes and such but the crabs fill me up and are not good for me. So I try to eat lean fish (bake it in foil), tuna salad (low fat or fat free mayo), and string cheese, cottage cheese... I brown of some skinless chicken thighs, add some canned tomatoes and Italian seasoning and coo****il chicken meat falls off the bone. Top with Parmesan cheese and it a good meal! Or meatballs with red sauce works... Try to eat as much "normal" food as you can! If say to yourself or others, I can not eat this or that you will be isolated. I eat out all the time with no problems, now I do not eat much but I do try different things!

Groceries-
-yogurt (assorted flavours -honey-based instead of sugar-based)
-Motts Applesauce- they are the perfect size for a light-meal!
-fruits (i cut them up and store them in ziploc bags and eat pieces)
(no apples- too much for me just yet)
-Mr Christie's wrapped Saltine crackers (2 to a pack)
( I have 2 crackers witha pice of chees and a bite of apple sauce and a piece of an orange for breakfast and I am full!)
-pre-packaged oatmeal and cream of wheat hot cereals (perfect serving size) (make sure no sugar or is plain)
I'm not into breads- I've eaten two muffins (half one each time) and they were too sweet- (blueberry and bran with raisin) -I've tried to eat pieces of flat bread (strips, really) but they are so bland... and have no flavour!
I find it irritating now to go grocery shopping.
I live alone and I'm single- alll of the stuff they sell is for families so there are a hundred portions in every bag!
(Which means, to me that 89 of those 100 portions now gets thrown out in the garbage cause I can't eat it fast enough to get rid of it!)
They just don't make ready-made food for singles with bands-on their guts!
Hi Melissa... I'm not sure I will be of much help; my grocery list consist of Carnation Instant Breakfast, frozen strawberries (to blend in the instant breakfast), dungeness/snow crab, peel n eat shrimp (seems like my craving for these 2 things, and watermelon!!!! have been never ending), chicken breasts, salad veggies, carrot sticks and celery. I have red meat about once a week; tolerating everything well.
