Dear Friends, I had my 3 month post-op check up in Indy yesterday. The good news is that I have lost 52 pounds since surgery and 61 pounds that I lost before = 113 in total. I have 87 pounds to go. The bad news is I have a very painful ulcer in my tiny pouch/stomach. My doctor put me on 2 prescriptions for it and she is hoping this will take care of it. If it doesn't then I'm looking at that ulcer being cut out of my tiny pouch/stomach. I am now on a bland diet for at least 2 months. More good news, because of how much I exercise each day they moved me up to eating 6 times a day, 4 oz meals, 100 g of carbs, 75 g of protein, and between 1200 to 1400 calories a day. Thank you to everyone who advised me to do this 2 weeks ago. You really are a great bunch of people. That is about all the good news I have for now. Email me when you can. I love to hear from you. Hi Donna, I guess some say that ulcers are caused by a virus. But even my doc thinks its because of stress. Thank you for replying. Mary Salmon

You go Girl !!!Way to go!!! HipHipHooray!!! Keep up the great work...good luck on removing that ulcer. By the way, what kind and how much exercise do you do, and how many days a week? Inquiring minds want to know, Missy 365/275/150??

Hi Missy, I ride a recumbant bike nearly every day at the highest resistance. I ride between 30-70 minutes and burn up 450-1000 calories a day. I also go to the Swonder Fitness Center at least 3 days a week to use the weight equipment. I was told by a trainer to go very slow when lifting weights, I mean in slow motion. I got a pair of old fashioned roller skates and as soon as it warms up a bit I'm gonna try them out around my neighborhood. If you or any one else has exercising tips I'd love to read them too. Mary, Good job! You are going strong! I have the same questions as other people have had...did your doc say why the ulcers in your pouch? and how much exercise are you doing? It sounds like you are on a roll! Keep it up! Jamie

Hi Jamie, I have been told that ulcers are caused by viruses but the doc thinks this was brought on by stress. On exercising I ride the recumbant bike nearly everyday at the highest resistance for between 30-70 minutes which I can burn 450-1000 calories.
