Hi Everyone...I'm a lurker (sorry)...I am also a 6'er. I had the surgery on 12-6-04, and I occassionally read posts. Here is my problem. I woke up this morning with a terrible cold...runny/stuffy nose (yes, at the same time), watery eyes....the whole mess. Anyway, I was wondering if there was anything over the counter to take for colds, I know that anything with ibuprofen is a no-no, but what about like, sugar-free nyquil or tylenol cold and sinus? Thanks for your help, Cheryl

I'd use the tylenol sinus. Also eat strawberries. Has lots of Vitamin C. If you don't like Strawberries, then take vitamin C... It'll help you fight your flu off. Unless its allergies...(watery eyes) then contact your PCP. Take care and drink lots of fluids and stay in bed if possible. Gracie 270/207 57# till goal!!!!!!!!

Hello fellow 6'er. I had a miserable cold two weeks ago and I was so upset. I called the weight management group and asked advice and was told to take sudafed. I did and was very pleasantly surprised how good it worked. I had to increase my water intake by 1/3 cause the sudafed made me so dry. I also brought a Afrin inhaler and used that for 3 days/twice a day. I also bought those breath right nose strips with menthol. Wow did they help me sleep good. Because of my high BP I am leary of many over the counter meds. Being a diabetic also causes problems with OTC meds. I can say that the products recommended to me by the professionals did help me through the cold. I am also very happy the head cold did not go into my lungs. With my asthma any kind of chest cold causes severe coughing and lingers for weeks. I am over my cold and back to normal. Drink, drink, drink, rest and be good to you. Don't lurk, come here often and post so we get to know you women, Monica

Hi Cheryl, I had a really bad one in January! Anyway, I called the office and they told me Tylenol Allergy/Sinus which comes in a package with a night and day side. They worked great, especially the night formula! Good luck and stick around, you won't believe how you will become a true OH guru at this site! Fran

Hi Cheryl, I had a cold 2 1/2 weeks ago. The hard pills did not work for me. I used Dayquil/Nyquil Liquid Caps and it did help some. Also Strawberries and or extra Vitamin C is a good idea. I took 2000 extra C for 2 weeks. This was the longest cold I have ever had. Also I was advised by some very nice people here to drink more than 64 oz of liquid a day. Good luck, feel better soon.
