Has anyone started shedding???
I haven't lost any hair thus far. "Knock on wood." I don't know why some people lose their hair and others do not. A friend of mine has another friend who had gastric bypass in October 2004. She wears a wig because she has lost all of her hair. I believe she has worn the wig for a couple months already. No fear though, from what I understand, her hair will come back nicer and maybe thicker than before. Best of luck.
I've not lost any more than I normally do as yet. I don't have that much to lose (hair, that is). I've lost 33 lbs since surgery, 70 since last August.
My brother the doctor told me that hair loss was inevitable due to the fact of having major abdominal surgery. Some on OH have said it is due to the anesthesia. Others due to the lack of protein intake after surgery. I don't know the true answer.
I started taking biotin before surgery, still taking it. I'm back to taking the same vitamins I was on before surgery, which contain a lot of everything--so didn't think I needed to add "hair" vitamins. I got my protein consumption up to desired levels as fast as I could after surgery, so I was at 80 grams by my 1 month date.
I don't know if any of my efforts will pay off. I'm still waiting.

YES! At almost EXACTLY 3 months as predicted by my doc.
I have started taking BIOTIN supplements. (in pill form)
I have very thin hair, but LOTS OF IT, so it's not yet noticable.
But beware when I run my hands through my hair in the shower each morning.
I will let y'all know if the Biotin helps!
Best,
Elisha
