Kicking my own butt!
Well I had surgery on 12/21/04 and now 2 months and two weeks later I am down 54 pounds. Sometimes it doesn't feel like enough. When I first got surgery (well the week after) I went to the gym every day. Now I usually go 2 or 3 times a week. I got all my water in and now I get about half. I've never gotten all my protein in because of my aversion to shakes. So now on my last blocks on easy street I've decided it's time to get myself on the right path for the rest of my life... Starting today...
These are the new goals I've made for myself.
*Exercise every week day (or if not possible 5 times a week).
*Get all my protein in everyday (even if it means drinking a nasty protein shake)
*Get the water in (come on self... you know how important that is)
*Checking in with the boards more often (helps to keep me accountable)
So I was wondering if we started doing a daily accountability post to help keep us all honest would you guys be interested and post to it?
I'm going to try it today, if it doesn't work then I'll stop.
Thanks
Brooke
I think it would help a lot of people in a lot of ways. My problem is the shift I work is not the best, plus the drive to and from is an hour both ways. I really need a new job. LOL By the time I get in from work I am too tired to get online. My days off are Tues. & Weds. but I will try to post weekly.
The protein shake thing can be very confounding. I tried a lot of them over the last few years and there are some really nasty ones out there. I had one that I thought tasted pretty good prior to surgery. After surgery, when I had to sip it rather than chugging the whole thing, it doesn't taste as good.
Last month, I purchased a sampler pack from bariatriceating.com (comes with a shaker). I've been very impressed by most of the samples in there, they mix easily and aren't really thick and gaggy. I wasn't thrilled with the coconut flavor, and the banana one is still waiting for me, but that is my personal preferrence. I reordered this month several of the ones that came in individual serving packages, makes it easier to take to work with me. I think some of the brands are available at places like Vitamin Shoppe if you have a store near you. I also got a couple of samples for another brand from smarthealthstore.com when I bought some power crunch bars last month. I've not yet tried those.
The accountability post sounds like something definitely to try. I'm in here most weekdays, anyway, so I'll try to post.
