Ok, another fun thing to Post about... (to break up some of the seriousness). Who can sleep on their belly/tummy/stomach... again? It took me 8 weeks to do so, but I AM OFFICIALLY getting much needed sleep on my belly. Ok, what about you? When were you able? Are you... and how is your sleep? If not... why? (surgery type if not)... Do tell and PLEASE, LETS KEEP THIS POST GOING! Vera, Crew Encourager 12/20/04 LAP RNY Proximal 343/298/? -#45 week 9

I was able to sleep on my belly again at about 4 weeks post op. Although I've always been a fan of sleeping on my sides. I carry most of my weight on my behind and hips (hour glass figure) so sleeping on my belly has never been an issue. Jenn

Hi V; I am 10 weeks post-op and I still have to sleep on my back most of the time but then I still have to wear my c-pap at night and just can't get comfy on my belly. Oh by the way I really did like the post about things you can do, kissing your toes and making your feet touch the middle of your back was very funny and I won't ask how you found out but if you feel like sharing you can e-mail me LOL. Have a great day. James

I can sleep on my amble tummy and have been doing so since I was 3 weeks post op. I am sleep very well. I find that I have to go to sleep earlier at night, still recovering from the surgery stress I guess. I have comcast as a cable provider and as a reward to me I signed up for the "Tivo" type option so I can record programs and watch them when I want to. I have some favorites on at 10:00 so I now tape them and go on to bed. Monica

I'm a side sleeper "left side" due to having GERD for so long and now I sleep on my back due to having Sleep apnea. I'm happy to report that my GERD of course is gone since WLS but I still sleep with Charlie sleep CPAP. Yes I named my CPAP machine I kind of feel like I don't need Charlie anymore but don't feel safe enough to let him go as of yet. Donna

Hi Ladies!! I think I was about 4 or 5 weeks out before I was able to sleep on the tummy tum again... It hurt if I tried to lay even on my sides at first... Now I am able to sleep in any position... Am also 57 pds lighter so that helps a lot too I think!! I still don't sleep very sound yet but I am getting there again... I was a "dead to the world" sleeper pre-op and now I toss and turn all night long it seems... I'm hoping this will be something that passes too with time... I've never been a tummy sleeper, I'm a side sleeper with a body pillow. I was able to sleep in my bed (with my binder on) about a week or so after coming home. It took another week or so before I could sleep without the binder. Now I sleep however I want! Jen -45

Hi Vera, I sleep on my back with a neck pillow. But I was able to lay in my bed and watch TV on my belly around the first of February. Mary S.
