I had my second RNY a week ago. Long story short, my first was 12/21/04, so I'm both 9 weeks and 1 week post op. I had a perforation that required repair and I've had to restart from the beginning. Can everyone remind me where I'm supposed to be? Feeling 1 wk postop? Hunger? Intake? Sleep? Meds? Etc. I'm more confused than anything right now.... and I'm just so tired. Thanks Everyone, Karen -60lbs

Karen I am sorry to hear you had to go through that again. I remember at 1 week being on pureed food and very tired. I wasn't taking any meds at that time they mad me sick so I slept it off. How did you know you had a perforation (what kind of signs/symptoms). I hope you have a speedy recovery and there are no more speed bumps in the road ahead. Angy

I had a stricture which caused me to vomited all the time. My surgeon attempted to dilate my stricture and it perforated my anastamosis and feces spilled in my bowel. I had to spend 4 days in ICU and he redid my RNY. I'm bummed, to say the least....reallllllly bummed. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I'm doing popsicles and liquid mashed potatoes and soups galore again. I just feel so tired and depressed.

Thanks to everyone that posted. During the night I woke with a eruption from my incision. Massive amounts of Puralent stuff drained out. I'm so disgusted!!!!!! Why'd I ever do this????

Karen, Hang in there! We all wondered why we did this in the beginning - but it gets much much better. Keep your chin up and you'll feel better in a couple of months. I'm sorry you had to go through this. Candy 266/218/130

I am so sorry you are having to relive the 1st few weeks as a post op. Hang in there and know we are all here for you. I remember eating a lot of dairy products to help get in my protein. I actually love the protein shakes. I would recommend making sure you get your protein and liquid in every day and of course don't forget your vitamins. You can not exercise too much right now but be sure and get your walks in - exercise is what helps me mentally. Best wishes to you, lay back and rest and recover - you will have better days soon. I hope you feel better soon! I was on liquids for the first 2 weeks, then pureed food for two weeks after that. I slept alot in the begining...Your body heals while you sleep. I had a 1oz. medicine cup they gave me at the hospital to take home for my meals. I did 1oz every 15-30 min. It does get better. I hope this helps! Good Luck!
