Sandwiches?

Hello! Has anyone tried eating sandwiches? I am on the final stage and my dietician told me that I can have some bread (up to 2 servings a day) as long as it's whole wheat...but of course to focus on protein. I was just wondering if anyone else has tried a half sandwich yet. I haven't been on the board much lately because I am working full time, full time single mom and part time college. Things have been so hectic, so I am trying to catch up! Thanks! Jenn

You gals are lucky. I am not allowed to eat any bread. That is the only thing I miss. I would give my left arm for a good slice of pizza.

I am not allowed bread either, but I did have a slice of pizza the other day and just ate the top of it. It was still really good. Melissa

HI Jenn, I have not tried any bread, pasta or rice yet, by choice. My nutritionist okay'd this because it was my "vice" before surgery. I needed to stay away from those carbs and get them in other ways because old habits die hard with me. I have friends who are at various stages and they eat bread now. Their suggestions for bread are toasted or crunchy bread, no doughy bread it gets stuck. I too have only eaten the top of the pizza and it was heaven on Earth! Good luck! Fran

I cant do bread, tried a couple of times toasted but did not go well. I also tried mini bagels with peanut butter but not ready for that yet. Everyone is so different. My dietician said to try again later. becky

I have eaten 1/2 english muffin, toasted, with peanut butter on it. I also have had the same with a poached egg on it. I have not eaten pizza, old vice. I have eaten some rice and pasta but can't seem to eat much it does not go down. I am staying away from soft doughy bread, don't think it will go down. I have had a small piece of the Italian Baguet from Safeway, it is more chewy than doughy and I put a little butter on it. Heaven on earth.

I am staying away from all rice, bread, and pasta until I am at goal. Then I will try adding them to my maintain diet. I wouldn't eat it unless it is toasted though. It can ball up and cause a block. Candy 266/222/125

Jennifer, I have had a torilla wrap with chix salad, tuna salad 2 times now and did very well with it. I have had ultra thin slices of excellent italian bread covered with sesame seeds, once. I realized very quickly that this is too delicious and very dangerous so I asked my sweet hubbie to not bring it into our house on a regular basis. One of my biggest triggers of mouth wateringness is good bread, loaded, coated with butter. SO I HAVE TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS. I have had 2 slices of raisen bread with peanut butter on them for breakfast and these were very good. HOWEVER, I am making better choices than those posted above. I got to the point of needing WLS from making bad choices and white carbs were a very LARGE part of helping me increase my girth. I love pizza and crave it. I know that I can't visit pizza yet or maybe never. I have to make behavorial changes to improve my successful achievement of living a healthier life. So I am trying to stay away from the sandwhich thing. Best of luck to you Monica
