Allow me to introduce myself.
HI All,
I have been lurking a bit on this board. I want to let you all know I'm here. I was not posting or responding much. I just did not feel up to it. I have been most comfortable in my bed. I'm one of the few who have had problems.
My surgery was 12/3. After my surgery I was kept in the hospital a week because I had bleeding. I went home for a few days and got sick. I went back to the Hospital, INFECTION! I had a leak! Ever since I came home I have had problems with water protean, vitamins eating......
Then I got sick. I think all the antibiotics knocked out my immune system. My tonsils are huge and red. (was tested for strep and it was -).
So anyway, I'll be around reading your post.

Welcome to the boards!! I really enjoy reading the information on the boards. There are many postings & reply's on the main message board.
But this is board is really nice because we all had surgery the same month. I'm sorry you had complications. After your throat clears you should start to feel better. I too have days when I do not get all my protein & liquids in. The nurse told me it takes time and to keep at it.
Our pouches will quite some time to heal completely. Hang in there.
Blessings

You had your surgery 1 day after me. How are you feeling now? That's a bummer that you had a leak. Did they have to go back in to repair? Did you have open or laproscopic RNY? Mine was open. Big scar but worth it. Where are you at on your weight loss? Just curious since out surgery dates are so close. I just hit 50 lbs this morning. That was a good feeling. Hopefully you are over the hump with the complications you had. Good luck!
I had lap RNY. They did not have to go back in. The Dr said it was small enough it healed itself. When I was in the hospital for the infection, everyday I had to have chest x-ray, upper GI, a CAT Scan and blood test. It was awful.
I have tiny scars. The largest is from the G tube (Drainage tube). It's the size of my pinkie nail. I am at about -45 lbs. I don't have a good scale. I take my real eight from the Dr. Last time I was at the Dr it was -40, but I know I have lost a few more since then. I am starting to want to weigh myself more. I might go to Bed bath and beyond to get a good scale.
I'm feeling a bit better. I'm trying to find some food (protean) I can eat without getting sick. That's my biggest problem. I still throw up a lot. You sound like you are doing great -50 is supper!!

Hi Liz; Welcome, I think you will find it great here. It is good to have people around that had WLS around the same time. And the one thing that I have noticed is that most everyone is about the same place in our weight loss and we can bounce things off one another and not have to endure all the oldies telling you they are tired of you asking all the old questions and don't want to be bothered with you. So again welcome and I hope you are feeling better real soon as I will be praying for you and I know that it is not Gods, will for you to be sick and you will be feeling better soon.

Hi Liz, and Welcome...
I am so sorry you have had to deal with the problems you have had. And although your throat is hurting now, I hope you are feeling better overall.
Your surgery was 2 days after mine, and I am just now getting to where I can get in all my liquids everyday.... and that is without having any post op problems. Just know that you will get there. Same with the protien and vitamins...
Post more often.... I am trying to do the same, as I just found this place a few days ago myself.

HI Susan,
You are doing fantastic. I stared at 290 and am down -40 (from last Dr visit). I know I can be doing better. I just can't seem to get the protean in. I'm also not exercising yet. I started the week before I got sick. But once I got sick, I just cant seem to want to go outside. Once I'm better I will go out again.
