HAPPY VALENTINES DAY (CHOCOLATE SUBSTITUTES ANYONE?).....
HEY MY DECEMBER CREW! Monday is V-Day (my favorite day), and as Post-ops, having Chocolate can be a disaster... diariea, dumping, tumy aches, frothing, and so many other unpleasant things.
I know, I know... a few of you are saying 'I can eat chocolate with no problem so far'... however, this number is a very small one. Personally, I HAVE NOT craved anything sweet, nor have I had the desire to do so, and will not. I was a big 'carmel corn' JUNKY, and anytype with nuts on it, well... I was a weekling! Also, TURTLES, and HEATH bars, both have carmel... and I would do ANYTHING to have it, anytime. So much sugar.... so much not me anymore.
Neverthless, ocassionally, we all want to devour a piece... CORRECTION, an entire BAR/BAG of Snickers, Hershy's, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, M & M (all types), TURTLES...ummmmm
Seeing that tomorrow IS VALENTINES DAY... what are we post-op to do? What the heck can we eat? Well, I thought of a few things, read a few suggestions, and decided to share a few with you, and hope you will also share!
1. ROSS CHOCOLATES: Low Carb Chocolates are made from smooth Belgian chocolate, sweetened with maltitol, diabetic and tooth friendly, and have no sugar added. Ross Chocolates are perfect for people on the Dr. Atkins Diet or any low carbohydrate diet since maltitol has a negligible impact on blood sugar/insulin levels. You can still have chocolate and stay in ketosis! ROSS comes in so many flavors: cherry, crunch, orange, strawberry, surpreme and so many, many more! Enjoy! *(Still check with your nutritionist regarding Maltitol sugar alcohol).
2. ASHERS CHOCOLATES: Sugar free Asher's Chocolate bars are available in 7 different flavors: pecan and caramel, liquid caramel, peanut butter truffle, mint truffle, milk chocolate, dark chocolate and dark liquid raspberry. Asher's Chocolates and Ross Chocolates are sugar free and sweetened with Maltitol, which makes them suitable for those on a sugar restricted diet. Diabetics should always consult their health professional first.
3. GODIVA SUGAR FREE CHOCOLATE...(for the 'richer' tastes): Who said you have to give up chocolate, and taste... Godiva has a Sugar Free Chocolate gift box with Almonds, Sugar Free Chocolate with Pecans and Crisp Rice, Sugar Free Dark Chocolate with Almonds, and Sugar Free Dark Chocolate with Pecans and Crisp Rice. (again, check with your Doc about the sugar alcohol content).
4. JELLO SUGAR FREE CHOCOLATE PUDDING: For those of you who are not as daring (like me), I'll be having chocolate pudding. Always a favorite, safe... affordable, and simple, Jello pudding is a old time favorite. You can put low carb whipped cream on top if you want, or just enjoy it plain! The Jello sugar-free mix is sweetened with aspartame, so I wouldn't eat this every day - but for an occasional like V-Day, or when you have a 'chocolate fit', it works very well! (I'll have to try this out on my sweetie... LITERALLY!)
I'll have to remind my boyfriend not to buy me that 10# box of Chocolates he always brings home, but to bring home a box of Jello Sugar Free Chocolate Pudding! Darn! Well, I guess with the money he'll save, I'll get a size 22 (down from a 30/32) outfit, hugh?
Well, none of this is low calorie food, so don't eat it everyday... and be sure to SHARE, which will be new to some of us, when it comes to our chocolate!
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO MY DECEMBER CREW!
ENJOY AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU GOT PLANNED!

Hi Vera,
Great post! I always get chocolate covered strawberries (my favorite), so i have already told my boyfriend to make sure it was sugar free because Godiva sure has sugar free products. Not sure what he has planned for us, but he said i would enjoy! Can't wait to get off work!
Happy Valentine, and have a good day

Hey guys.... I definately have some questions for Jenni (hey girl)...
WHAT THE HECK IS SASHIMI... is it like sushi? I love sushi! Just joking: is it something with protein, a drink, or what? Do share and congrats baby!
Kesha, thanks for the compliment... I love posting up, and see you all over the Board, as well. So glad we are finally on the same 'page' up in here!
Ron, my darling baby... you are so, so sweet... and thanks for your sweetness! I am so fond of you, and believe me, you are doing well with the ladies up in here! So sweet, so watch out before I take a bite!
