Whats everyone Eating???????
Okay Please tell me what you are all eating...I am struggling with eating do fine on getting in my fluids and working on my exercising. If you could just give me a sample of your typical day at 6/7 weeks out. I can handle most things pretty easily. I am struggling with my protien!!!!!! I hate protien shakes but I am going to keep trying. Please Help.
Thanks
Megan
Megan:
For supper tonight, I ate a shake and bake pork chop (or about 1/3 of one), 1/2 baked potato (cheese, lite sour cream, spray butter), and about 1/2 cup green beans/mushrooms/onions (cooked together). It went down really well..and was soooo good. Here lately, I've had a hard time remembering to eat slow, take small bites and chew really well. Have had to throw up several times lately... But it's my fault..for not taking my time and letting old habits creep back in.
As far as protein, I don't take in enough either...but I found at Wal-mart today, the AdvantEdge Coffee House Nutrition Shakes. There's a Cappuccino, Mocha Latte, and Cafe Caramel. They are OK. Most protein shakes that I've tried that have to be mixed with milk give me diarrhea. The coffee shakes have 15 g. protein, 3 carbs, and 1 g. sugar. It says to drink cold...I think I might try to drink one heated.
Water is another thing I don't do enough of. Can't seem to get that in either. I'm trying harder...by keeping a glass out at all times.
Well, happy losing and good health!!

Hi Megan,
My surgery was Dec.15th. I try new foods every day,but in very small quantities until I see how I respond to them.I eat alot of baked potatoes.
I mash them up very fine and put some honey mustard in them.So far all
type of meats have NOT agreed with me!!! I also can tolerate the pintos
and cheese from taco bell.I really like my protein drink. It's called protidiet.
I get it from the weight loss center. It's a water based drink. I can not tolerate milk.I just experiment with all types of foods, staying in the portion size of course!!! I've lost 50 pounds and I feel great.Best wishes
on your journey.Just take it one day at a time.
Melinda
Hi Megan,
I had my surgery on 12/9/04. Here's an example of what I eat during the day: Breakfast: 1 egg over medium(Pam spray) with salsa or Quaker Oats apple & cinnoman oatmeal. Lunch: 3 thin slices of 99% fat free turkey,1 slice of lowfat swiss cheese, pickles, mustard, tomatoes between 2 leafs of romaine. Dinner: Albacore tuna salad with red wine vinegrette salad dressing. Snacks: low salt almonds. I've lost 40 pounds in 2 months.
I'm still having problems drinking all my water. I have found that WalMart has a Equate brand of Crystal Lite for individual water bottles, LemonAid was great. I start my day off with a protien shake, sometimes with milk sometimes with water. For lunch, I eat out, sometimes chilli with cheese from Krystal's or Wendy's, or a burger without the bun but everything on it from the garden. For dinner, I eat chicken with cheese, bbq dipping, or steak, but mostly chicken, I don't like fish. I also tried balonie the other day on a slice of wheat bread with FF Mayo, it was wonderful. I eat out a lot, so if I eat at Cracker Barrel, I get their low carb chicken it has cheese and bacon on it, green beans, and carrots, but if I eat at applebee's I get chicken parmasian without the noodles, it's good. If we eat at O'Charlies, I get a sampler with cheese wedges, potatoes skins and chicken strips, I try not to eat the potatoes, but sometimes I just have to, my doctor tells me to stay away from that "white carb trash" ha ha hee hee. I pretty much eat what I used to but not as much, like salad, I love salad, now I cannot eat that much because I won't have room for my protien. Meatloaf, steak casadea's from Taco Bell, however you spell it, and chicken ones. I didn't think I would like them, but their good. So my surgery was 12-14-04 and I have lost 37 lbs. I believe I am a little behind, probably because of the water. I am now a Mall Walker. Hope this helps. Best of Luck.

i dont drink protein shakes, dr said to get it from my meals, so most meals i eat the meat first and then the side if i have room still.

Well...lessee...
Mine was on 12/22/04, and at 6 weeks out I've been a little adventurous.
I can eat just about any kind of veggie I want except leafy greens like lettuce, spinach, ect, and heavier stuff like carrots. But beans, broccoli, cflower, and all, yummy!
Fruitwise I can eat pears and apples okay. But citru****s me very hard. Meatwise, the best thing for my stomach is fish. Like today I had a salmon patty (fried) and it didn't bother me at all. Also eat talapia and shrimp pretty well. Chicken, and other heavier meats I can eat pretty well if they are in a soup or broth, but alone, for some reason they seem to hit me pretty hard.
Yesterday I tried to eat some BBQ pork (cooked VERY tender!), which was soooo goood on the mouth, but the stomach said NO WAY!
Also like to eat Nacho Cheese Doritos, Goldfish, Cheese and Crackers, and the best thing of all for a sensitive tummy is Chicken -n- rice soup.
Don't have any problems with table sugar and 'dumping'. And I mention this because my dad had this surgery a couple of years ago, and couldn't eat ANY table sugar at all for months, as it would make him violently ill. I, on the other hand, can handle a cookie or two, or those little bite size candy bars you can buy. My 'dumping' problem comes with dairy products though, mil**** cream, anything made with cream, and yogurt, which I must stay away from at all cost. Yet cheese for some reason doesn't bother me. Go figure.
The protein shakes, I can't put milk in them, as I will get sick. So I have to mix it with water, put in the fridge until it gets VERY cold, and then I just take two or three sips here and there, until it's gone. I tried to drink it all at once, and just couldn't do it. YUK.
Anyway, good luck to you.

Hi, Megan. I try to make my every meal consist mainly of protein. I eat a lot of non fat plain yougurt, low fat cottage cheese, mozzarella sticks, turkey or vegetarian chili and a piece of fruit for a snack. I don't eat pasta, rice or potatoes or bread. I'll admit I am paranoid about the carbs.
Good luck,
E.G.
Well, my surgery was on 12-1-04, and my surgeon allowed us on to solid foods at 12 days. I have only had a few problems with food itself, mostly trying to get out of the eating fast thing... thats a hard one to break...
A typical day for me might consist of:
BF: A hard boiled egg (scrambled eggs don't set well in my pouch) and a 1/2 of a banana
Lunch: Either some meat of some sort like chicken, or beef, or maybe some pimento cheese with crackers, or soup
Dinner: I have fallen in love with Wendy's Chili, I eat it very often. Other times I will have meatloaf, or what we call chicken brown stew (chicken with an onion and brown gravy) a small amt of veggies, and occasionally some mashed tators, or baked tator.
I drink alot of Crystal Light Orange Sunriser. While I like the other flavors such as the Peach Ice, Strawberry Ice, or Raspberry Ice, they don't sit well in my pouch like water. I can't drink but very small amts of water. I do get in about 64 oz per day of the Crystal Light. I also have become lactose intolerant. I love milk, but it doesn't love me. I have just gotten some Lactaid and I am gonna try that. My fat free milk was such a good source of protien for me. I hate that I have had to give it up. Maybe this Lactaid will work, and I can go back to my milk.
