Such a struggle!

I'm battling with my intake. I just can't eat enough. If I manage to eat something, only 2 or 3 bites of it fills me up. If I try to eat more? I get chest pain and end up vomiting. Protein drinks make me sick! Somedays I can barely get 12 oz of liquid down me, much less 64 oz like some of you. Today my entire intake consisted of about 300 calories. I know I need to eat more, I know I need to drink more, but... I just can't seem to do it. Some of you are getting 100 gms of protein, 3 meals a day, 64 oz of water... geesh, how do you do it??? Am I the only one feeling like this??

Baby, do call your doctor to make sure nothing is blocked, or closed up. If my surgery date wasn't so close to yours, I would simply say 'take your time and let it happen naturally', but you are right, so many are past what you are suffering. It may be nothing.. it may be that you just need to chew, chew, chew... it may be you need to keep blending... or maybe you should just call the doctor. Just take care of yourself, call him/her and move from that point. Please take care of yourself, and keep us posted. Vera

I agree with Vera, call your doctor, we put our lives in their hand and we pay them to take care of us. They need to hear from you and help you with your struggles. I had my surgery on 12/06 and I have progressed each day increasing my intake to satisfy my weight management doctors and the nutritionist. My weight management doctors and their nutrionist say we need at least 100 grms of carbs a day. Less and we put ourselves in jepardy. I have a hard time reaching this expectation, but they keep reminding me that to be successful for the long haul this is what we need. I was only eating b/w 700-850 calories a day and they want at least 1000 calories. At least 70-90 grms protein and lots of water 64-100oz. I have no problem reaching the protein and the water amounts. Some days I am at the 1000 calories and some days less. Each day brings new challenges and I try hard to follow the rules and keep on track. I use FitDay.com to put in my food amounts and this helps me stay the course. This journey is for a new life and like you I want to achieve a healthier better life. I found a super protein drink at my Whole Foods Market, it is made by Jay Robb and it is very digestable and delicious. It is whey protein and I mix it with smart skim milk. I get 34 grms protein just from the drink. I really like the vanilla and chocolate flavors. I also found that Atkins makes a great morning start protein bar that is easy to eat and very digestable. Keep us posted cause you deserve better from this journey. Good luck, Moncia

I feel the same way. My surgery was 12/3. For protean and liquid I drink milk. Can you tolerate Milk? I started with 2 glasses of Lactate a day. Now I drink Skim Milk with dry Milk powder and Carnation Instant Breakfast added. It's about 24 grams of Protean. I drink one in the morning and one in the evening. But if it's too much in the evening I'll just have the milk. As for water that's also been hard for me. I have found I like OJ (I can also tolerate that). I put about 6oz in a glass and add 6ozs of water. I also like Snapple Diet Cranberry. It takes me all day to drink the 16 oz bottle. By the end of the day I get about 50-60 oz of fluid and 60-70 grams of protean. I know I'm still short of what they like, but it's all I can tolerate. I'm not worried yet, because I'm not throwing up everything. I think its just taking my pouch longer to heal. It's frustrating because I'm not losing as fast as others who can get in the protean. I also read what other are eating and I can believe it. My Dr said the longer I can go with out food (staying on a liquid diet) the longer the pouch works. If I'm still like this at the end of my third month, then I'll start to worry. If you are worried call your Dr. Liz
