Hello my fellow Decemberians
Just wanted to update and see how we are all doing in comparison! I had surgery on December 21st. Today my bathroom scale said 243 and the scale at work said 252 with jeans and shoes.
I think I've been doing fairly well with food. I haven't ever dumped, but I've eaten something I thought was ok and then got a little sick to my stomach, but nothing major. I usually get between 500 and 600 calories a day and around 50 grams of protein (my nutritionists goal for me is 62, I'm trying). I usually get about 20 of fat and carbs.
I've been exercising at the school gym (it's free) I do about 2 miles a day. I did 11 miles this week. I'm looking to mix it up though.
I usually take a day of the week off from exercising. I'm thinking about rotating my exercise like this though:
Monday and Friday: Treadmill
Tuesday and Thursday: weights (and floor work sit ups and whatever) and an exercise tape.
Wednesday: Swimming
Sunday: one of the things above alternated
Does this sound like a good regimine to you?
How are you doing since your surgery?!
Hi Brooke -
My body stalled so I called my nutristionist. She said we should be getting 900-1000 calories by now. So I upped my calories to about 900, I get about 100 gms of protein, and about 100 oz of liquids. Since I started that last Thursday I've dropped six more pounds. My body was hanging on because it thought I was starving it. I walk 1.5 miles a day t,w,t. I walk 3.5 miles S&S. I also ride the life cycles for 30 minutes on the weekend and I've just started swimming so my arms can get a workout. My surgeon said no weights or situps until we're three months out or we will get hernia's. Anytime you have major surgery on your tummy you should hold off weights and situps until then.
My diet is the following:
B: choc carb countdown mixed w/ banana & 1 scoop choc unjury protein
S: sting cheese
L: Seafood, 1/2 lean cusine, or 1/2 wendy's chili
S: protein power crunch bar
D: seafood, 1/2 lean cusine, or something high in protein
S: 6 oz of water mixed with roadside lemonade protein or something.
Keep up the good work. Hugs,
Candy
