Good THURSDAY Morning... one more day! Just wondering what everyone had planned for exercise today....? I plan on using my giselle as soon as I get home from my PCP appointment today! Goal: 30 minutes! Have you begun crunches yet? (I had surgery on 12/27/04... 5 weeks out). Thanks! Beckie

I have added 1/2 hour of walking to my daily routine, just by learning to leave the car at home and walk to and from the train station. I also do 3 and 5 pound free weights, three times a week. I am 7 weeks out and down 44 pounds. Tonight is Karaoke night, so a few dances might be in order, too. Cheers, Karen

HI BECKIE.... I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YO ABOUT THE GISELLE.. IS THAT THE THING THAT YOUR FEET GLIDE/MOVE BACK AND FORTH ON WITHOUT THE WEIGHT OF THEM BEING ON THE FLOORAND YOU ARE STANDING UPRIGHT? I HAVE A STATIONARY BIKE THAT I RIDE.. AND WAS THINKING OF GETTING THAT OTHER PIECE OF EQUIPMENT... BUT DIDN'T KNOW ANYONE THAT HAD IT TO SEE IF IT REALLY WORKED... ALSO DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE MAX WEIGHT IS FOR IT? I HAVE MS AND JUST GOING OUT AND WALKING IS DIFFICULT FOR ME.. I DO BETTER AT HOME WITH MY OWN EQUIPMENT... WHEN YOU HAVE TIME IF YOU COULD LET ME KNOW I WOULD APPRECIATE IT... THANKS... BONBON

I just went online to see what the max weight is for a GAZELLE... silly me, cant spell! This is what I found: Product Weight: Approx. 61 lbs. Maximum user Weight: 350 lbs. Unit Size: 38"(L) x 36"(W) x 55.5"(H) It is tough at first.... but you should gain strength.... Good luck, Beckie

I usually go to the gym in the morning and do 30 minutes of walking on the treadmill and 30 minutes on the life cycle. But, due to weather I'm going to have to do it after work today instead. During the weekend I double both of those. Beckie - we aren't supposed to do crunches or any weights until we are at least three months out - too easy to get a hernia. I can't wait though to whip these flabby bat wings into shape. I am so ready to start weight training. Candy 266/232/130

Candy, Thanks for the info on the crunches. I havent tried but I wasnt sure. I normally do 30 minutes on the elliptical and 15 on the treadmill. I am not a fan of the bike.... (sore butt after a while...lol!) I want to do crunches but I am glad to wait. (WHEN WOULD I HAVE EVER SAID 'I WANT TO DO CRUNCHES?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!) Have a wonderful Day! Beckie

I'm going to the gym after work. I'll definitely do some walking 20-30 min and possibly the elliptical and bike for 10 minutes each. How long I walk will depend on how long I do the elliptical and bike for.

Beckie, I was reading about what someone said about crunches and having to be 3 months out. That all varies on your doctors oppinion of how you are getting along, how much weight you have to go, etc etc etc. With my age and the shape I was in before the surgery and how my body is handling everything my doctor told me to start doing stomach excersizes at my 6 week appointment. I haven't yet and am kinda hesitant. I think I am just going to do the water arobics for now because it works everything. I do walk everyday at the park with my doggy. If you want to start a new excersize call and talk to your nurse and see what they say at the doctors office as to if you are ready or not. Have a great day!!! Michelle
