Lo Mein?
I hope this isn't a dumb question. I just read through a ton of information on Chinese food in the Library, and it seems many people tolerate it fine while some others don't (not sure if it's the fat content in some dishes, the oil, or the possible existence of MSG).
I am starting my soft foods on Tuesday and was wondering if you think Lo Mein would be a good choice. It seems "soft" enough for me, and it would be made without MSG (my husband knows the owner of the Chinese place very well). What about if he added a few small shrimp for protein? Or would the oil it was cooked in make it contain a lot of fat and make me dump? Dare I even try it? (I posted this on the Main Board as well and forgot to add that I've already just about met my protein goal for the day).
I may just call the Nutritionist and ask; however, I often find it more helpful to hear everyone's opinion/experience here. After all, how are we going to know what we can/can't tolerate until we try it.

HI CHRISTINE....
THE REASON I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM LOMEIN IS BECAUSE THE PASTA COULD GUM UP AND AND GET STUCK IN THE POUCH, AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT I WAS TOLD ABOUT PASTA AND BREAD. MAYBE EAT THE SHRIMP AND TASTE THE SAUSE AND YOU CAN PRETEND YOU ARE EATING LOMEIN....
BUT EVERYONE HAS TO TRY AND DO WHAT THEY THINK IS BEST FOR THEM... IF YOU DID IT.. LET US KNOW HOW IT WAS...
LOOKS LIKE YOUR WEIGHT LOSS IS AWSOME... GOOD LUCK

I agree with the rest ... be careful. I was told to stay away from all pasta and breads, because they expand in the small pouch, which takes away room for protein, and can be very uncomfortable. I have had a few strands of pasta, however, with other meals, just for the taste and texture, but that is all. I don't know if fat can make you dump; it hasn't affected me, unfortunately!
