What is everyone eating???
Well, I haven't posted yet with you guys, so I figured what the heck....lol. I am eating mostly anything I want. The only thing I don't like is ground beef; sits to heavy on my pouch and for hours. I mean I can eat it for lunch at 12noon and not want to eat again until 8 or 9pm.
I like meats. I suggest if you have tried chicken, steak or pork or anything yet to give it a try. However, tenderize the meat really well (basically beat it thin) and wrap it in aluminum foil with either some broth or water to keep it moist and not dry out. I tenderize everything, even if I buy thin cuts.
Veggies, soups, cottage cheese, all that stuff is good too. Also, try to make an omelete if you can do eggs and ham. That way you get all high protein food, its soft and is all around good for you.
Also, lasagna made with zucchini (sp) or eggplant is suppose to be really good. I am still yet to try it, but if you take out the noodles and use no sugar added sauces it is a healthy meal too!!!
I am only 4 weeks post op and our family eats normally. We have made adjustments but foods have done good with me. Good luck and hope this helps some!

I am having the same problem - but I am not allowed protein shakes anymore so I have to eat protein - anyway, I found some fat free alfredo sauce - I take a chicken breat, cut it up (sometimes I pound it) - brown it, add some of the alfredo sauce (put the rest in fridge for another meal)- mushrooms...yumm I thought I was in heaven - of course I am not allowed any potatoes or any starch yet and I had a teaspoon of mashed potatoes last week - oh man....yummm - took me a good 3 minutes to eat that teaspoon...
Yes - my doctor wants no soft foods after I started eating (week 5). I do sprinkle protein powder on my foods to get a little more protein - but no more shakes. It has to do with forming my habits now while I can't eat a lot to make sure I don't revert back to soft foods after I can eat more. It has been shown that those WLS patients that do gain weight do so because they eat too many calories through soft foods (which pass right through the pouch). My doctor is adament about not eating soft foods - drinking calorie drinks, etc...
The fresh stuff seems to go down the best for me. I've been eating alot of steamed shrimp and crab legs. They are so good. Very few calories and carbs and lots of protein. I make crabcakes too with mostly all crab. I also like hardboiled eggs. I can't eat eggs any other way, but hardboiled goes down well. I make a fake chicken parmesan. I broil a thin chicken breast and top with a little spaghetti sauce and low fat mozzarella. Broil until cheese melts. And my favorite snack is cheese crisps. I've seen a lot of recipes on this site to make them, but I think this is the easiest. Take 1/4 cup of low fat cheddar and microwave on parchment paper for 2 1/2 minutes. Let cool and eat. You can add garlic powder, chili powder or any other spice before cooking if you want. I love these and so does my whole family. I feel like I am always making them. I also just discovered bacon curls from bariatric eating. These are good too and I hate regular pork rinds.
Hope this helps.

I am really struggling and it appears it is not the norm. I have read alot of good ideas though. I am 7 weeks post op and still cannot get past the Protein Shakes, SF Puddings, SF Jello, yogurt, and mashed potatoes. Everything else I try hurts and I get nauseous. I have tried Salmon, Lipton Noodle Soup, eggs, and oatmeal. All a no go. Did anyone have some of the same problems?
Do you like fish? i have been broiling talipa it is real easy to get down and it has 20 grams of protien for 4 oz filliet 80 calories.Another thing i have been having for lunch is Low fat cottage cheese with a tomato in it.i just add the inside of the tomato and cut it up in real small pices and i also add the juice.it helps.i also have 98 % fat free deli turkey slices take small bites and chew.it's vary tender.i also make some taco meat but make the meat real juicy and let it cook for a long time in the crock pot it also gets real tender.then i mix with caned refried beans i can eat that for 4 days straight.Try string cheese sticks as a snack.I tried lobster last night and it got stuck it took almost 3 hours to come out.I was miserable.Plus i added a small glass of oj for natural carbs for more energy.hope this helps.Jeff
