HELP!!!!!
Have you tried string cheese, refried beans and heartier soups? I'm 5 days older then you surgery wise and I eat a ton of things...
Canned chicken and tuna
Any deli meats (except beef varieties)
Crackers
Cottage Cheese
Eggs (hard boiled and scrambled)
Moist Chicken
Refried Beans
Chili
Spaghetti (be light on the pasta)
Sausage (small amount w/ spaghetti)
Spinach (in my scrambled eggs)
Buffalo wings (3 max)
Sour Cream
Avocado (and guacamole)
Mashed Taters
Soups with crackers
That's all I can think of right now... Today I am going to try bacon and see how that goes down... Tomorrow will be a small carbsmart pancake with sugar free syrup.
I'm one of those people that's willing to risk throwing up to try new foods. I figure it's the only way I'm going to find out what I can eat and what I need to try again in a month or so. It's the same thing I did with my daughter when she started solids, so why should it be any different with me.
Good luck!
Jen
My surgery was same day as yours! Try sugar free popsicles, dreamsicles and fudgebars. Also apple juice (hot with cinnamon or just cold), grape juice, sugar free apple sauce, sugar free jello, pudding, or tapioca. I mix protein supplement in my soups and run through blender. At restaurants I order soup, and ask for mostly broth, and they usually do it for me. I've never tried fish yet or the philly swirl. I will look for it.
Hope you are doing as well as me. I'm down 36 pounds in a month and feel great. Oh, just noticed your stats. At first I thought it was your phone number.

Ron,
I love refried beans. You can get them at Taco Bell for $.99 or I also make them at home: 1 can fat free refried bean mixed with just a little water, some cumin, oregano and garlic (to taste) then I put some on a plate and melt some cheese on top, YUM! I also like to make my own yogurt smoothies (21 grams protein). I use 1 cup Blue Bunny lowcarb yogurt (any flavor), 1 cup Carb Countdown milk, 1 banana, and then whatever plain frozen fruit I feel like (strawberries, raspberries, peaches, blueberries or blackberrries) about 1/2 cup. It makes a huge smoothie and I sip on it for an hour or more in the evening. It's my favorite treat.

I copied this recipe months before my surgery. Some people were posting it on the CA board. I ate this a lot in the second month.
1/4 cup of ricotta cheese, 1/4 cup (or a little less to your taste) of spaghetti sauce and shred string cheese or mozzarella on top. Microwave for less then a min. It bubbles fast. It is Very good and has 14 grams of protean!

Hey Jeff... I see you have been able to get down a variety, so far. Please feel free to go to my Page and take as many recipies as you can. Many of them are early post-op, and soft-food recipies... so enjoy!
To me, it is always better to come away from the 'canned' food and 'processed' foods, and toss some fresh veggies/etc., in a blender with some skim-milk, and make your own soup, etc.
I bet you'll throw a party when you get down to 350, because so far, you are working out a lot!
Let me know what you try.

Hi Jeff,
I think you are doing so great! I have really been enjoying eggplant rollatini with ricotta and mozzarella. I can eat about only 1/2 a roll, but it is so good and goes down well because it is moist. I have also had rotisserie chicken marinated with one of those injected marinades--lemon garlic flavor. My nutritionist suggests that we take the 98% fat free deli ham--I used Black Bear Pepper Ham and spread some ricotta or allouette or even some lower fat cream cheese on the slice thinly and roll them up. She calls them "cigar appetizers" and they are packed with protein. You can also use endive as a scoop for softer cheeses, guacamole, salsa, etc. I have tried the Taco Bell beans and cheese appetizer (today) and it was only 89 cents. It was really good. I am not as brave as Jennie and I usually stick with a bunch of foods until I am sick of them. Eggs still do not agree with me. I am not going near bread, pasta or rice, but my hubby made a great shrimp scampi over pasta and I ate just the shrimp and it went down good as well. I have had chicken smothered in a combo of low fat cream of chicken and mushroom soups with veggies added and that was good, but it has to cook for a long time to make the chicken tender. At a party I had chicken francese (which is the one in the lemon/butter sauce) it was good too. My hubby (who is the better cook of the 2 of us) makes walleye (it's a white fish) with lemon and puts it in a tin foil pan with a little butter and places a slice of tomato over each piece with a little pepper and covers it with foil and lets it just poach itself in all the good juices and it falls apart and is really good. I haven't had this yet, because I have to go and buy the fresh fish now, instead of him catching it! I still have a hard time getting in a lot of food at one sitting so I eat more small meals to get it in. I really love green beans and tomatoes, so I am going to make your soup this week. Thanks for the recipe! Good luck to you!
