HIGH NUMBER OF VIEWS.... Not enough Responses! Please Participate

I love this message board because there are so many of us December 2004 post-ops. The problem is... so many view the Posts, but few respond to the Posts. Why? I know that each message may not be to your liking, however, if the messages that are Posted are not something you'd like to respond to, as a 12/04 member, why not POST UP YOUR PROGRESS, or START YOUR OWN MESSAGE? I am sure once a few more 12/04 members participate, something good will come out of it! Everyone counts, and it means a lot when a Post goes on, and on, and on... because it helps the next person; the newbie, and other post-ops who need advice, or just an exchange of thoughts, ideas and progress. For example, when a newbie is in distress, I notice over 100 views, but only a few responses. Another example is Roll Call... and so on... so many view, but not many 'check in' with their progress. Why? For the sake of the Board, please... don't be afraid to share. It'st he beginning of the year, and we all have had, WLS around the same time, which makes us all have something in common. Why not use that to our advantage to compare, track and gage where we are as a Team! Everyone counts, and something YOU SAY, may help the next newbie. Your expert advice, or even your newly found discoveries are important to the Board. So...I hope this helps you guys to PARTICIPATE MORE because I definately can't respond to everything alone, or continue Posting with very few responses! Come on December 2004 Team... let's get it together! Read you soon! Vera 12/20/04 343/308/? LAP RNY -35

Dear Vera, I loved your message! It is full of joy and hope. I have been operated on the other side of the world - Belgium- do you know where that is? Just above France on the Europe map. I'm french, but living in Belgium. My operation, RNY, took place on the 15th december so that makes me also a member of the december gang. So far everything is ok with me, except that I'm very tired. I need to go to sleep very early and I find it difficult getting up in the morning. I don't have the energy I had before. Do you have the same ? At the beginning I had problems with vomiting very often always after the evening meal which I ate with the family. Now I try to pay attention to each bite and I feel better. My surgeon told me no sugar and no sweetener at all to forget about the sweet taste. So far I stayed away and it is not to difficult...I'm afraid of what I do in a few months. Will I really lose weight like the before and after pics I ve seen on this site? I hope so much! Love and keep me informed of you progress if you wish so. Solveig RNY dec 15th -30 ps I'm french mothertongue so forgive me for the various mistakes, mispelling

I am tired too. I have been told this is because of the extremely low calorie intake we are on at first and because some people need more rest when recovering from surgery. I am middleaged as well, and it seems like the younger folks that I know have gotten energy back more quickly. I am sure it has something to do with mental state as well, such as if you struggle with depression or not, have a positive outlook generally, etc. Paying attention to everything you put in your mouth and taking time to chew, chew, chew is critical to not getting sick or uncomfortable. Also, liquid intake is critical - you will feel more tired if you are at all dehydrated. Best of luck to you! Nancy

I'm doing great... surgery 12/14 - as of today I have lost 47 pounds. I feel ribs! Still have thunder thighs though! I feel very motivated - my house is clean, dinner is on the table precisely when needed, and the bills are paid on time. I consider this surgery a blessing on the physical part of me, but also the mental part. Laura 12/14/04 305/257/160

Vera, That is why I named you Captain of our team! You get us so pumped up. Sometimes, I am guilty of reading and not responding. I usually don't respond because I don't feel qualified enough to yet. Okay, here is some new information that I think you will love. Yesterday I had to go to a retirement dinner. As usual, I didn't even think about what I was wearing because as you know, who cares what I wear, I'm still fat, right? Wrong! I went to get dressed about a 1/2 hour before I had to go and NOTHING FIT!!!!! Yeah! All of my size 14/16 tops that still had tags on them because I bought them last year hoping to get into them were really, really big. I couldn't even wear them, they looked so bad. The size 16 pants were also too big. I went into the size 14p pants and they were really loose, but so comfortable. I ended up wearing a top that was a regular misses large! My friend came up to me and said that she thought I looked so good that I was actually glowing! I can't tell you how great I felt. I am so thankful to God for this. I was at my last rope with my weight! Thanks to all of you for your wonderful posts and support! This site helps me so much. Love and soon to be skinnier hugs. Fran
