Sudden almost-vomiting?
I'm not sure how to explain this ... but a few times, I get really sick, very suddenly, and then it feels like I'm going to vomit, and sounds like it, but nothing comes out! But then afterwards I feel better! I'm thinking that maybe the food is stuck, and this 'un-sticks' it so it can go down. When this happened yesterday, I had eaten half of a carbwell bar, and maybe I ate it too fast or didn't chew it up enough (although I thought I had). Anyone else have this happen?

I've had that problem shortly after surgery when I tried to eat a low carb mint icecream sandwich. And it did all come back up. Don't know if it was the cold or the mint or the chocolate (that seems to be what came up) or maybe even the sugar alcohols. Since then regular chocolate goes down just fine (unfortunately), the two bites I've tried. And so do protein bars containing sugar alcohols.
I've also had trouble when I've tried to be a member in good standing of the "clean plate club". I measure out the portion that I'm supposed to eat, get to feeling full before everything is gone, and try to slam in that last bite. Comes right back up. Luckily I've been able to avoid that for a few weeks.
Hi Leslie,
Yes, I've had that happen to me. It was a nausea flash type of thing. It has happened to me a couple of times. I believe it's when I forget how much I just put in my mouth. It hasn't happened when I've been fully cognizant of how I'm conducting myself while eating.
I was eating talapia the other night and it did get caught. I had waves of hurt for about 5 minutes. It was horrid. I actually tried to make myself vomit to ease the hurt but it didn't happen. I had to ride it out and afterwards thought ... that's my body telling me to calm down, slow down with the protein. I looooooove protein; give me fish, steak, chicken over sweets and carbs anyday. lol Heaven's sake.
Take care.
Peace,
K
