Thank Goodness for Trader Joe's
I wanted to give some suggestions on good food that I have found at Trader Joe's...... I was in search of food with taste and here is what I came across that was low in fat/high in protein......
Black bean chili
Turkey chili with beans
Cranberry Mustard.... put on chicken.... it helps to go down.
All of their fish is awesome.
and for the dry itchy skin that I thought I was going insane with.... Burt Bee's hand cream.
Hope this helps
Trader Joe's is an awesome store that has alot of items that are hard to find. They have their own brand name stuff and carry alot of organic and all natural items.

Hey Shannon ... Trader Joe's is a "A UNIQUE GROCERY STORE" per their website http://www.traderjoes.com .. you can find gourmet, organic and foods generally not available at the neighborhood QFC, Safeway, Ralph's etc.
I always shopped at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods (or "Whole-paycheck" as some of us fondly joke) .. but now that quality vs. quantity is the way to go post surgery ... I plan do do more shopping at these grocery stores (and Larry's for those of us in WA).
Cheers .. g
I agree. I love Trader Joe's. The turkey chili is awesome and so is their vegetarian chili. I also buy their Greek non-fat and low-fat plain yougurt. It's called Fage. It's delicious. That's my breakfast every morning. I used to buy a lot of fattening goodies from there: like European chocolates, nuts and cookies. Now, I look for healthy stuff and they stock plenty of it.
Hey Guys on the West Coast,
Not Fair! We don't have a Trader Joe's over here on the East Coast! We can get Burt Bee's at Bath N Body Works, though!
See, I'm burried in 16 inches of snow and I can't go gourmet food shopping either!
If anyone knows of a similar supermarket in N.J. Pass on the info. Please.

Hip-Hip-Hooray for TJ's!! I was there yesterday and picked up 2 different bags of soy chips. One is white cheddar and the other is lightly salted. They're low in fat, have 9gms of protein in a serving and the carbs are reasonable. I tasted them and they're fab!!! I'm hoarding mine for Super Bowl Day as we're having a party and I'll want to partake in the goodies. I'm gonna mix up a batch of hummus and have a handful of soy chips.
I've got it all planned out!!
I went to Beverages & More and picked up Baja Bob's Margarita mix (Splenda) and will get to party with the gang (in reasonable amounts for a change! What a switch from this time last year!)
I buy my calcium citrate/D at Trader Joe's for $3.99 for 90 tablets. My doc demands we take 2,000 mg per day so it works out to 3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon coupled with a multi-vitamin. At night all I have left to take is one multi and an iron. I'm being such a good girl I can't stand myself!! But it shows! Down from size 24 to 16/18
