Weight Check.... are you still not loosing? HELP! Advice needed!
Hello my December 2004 friends, I am happy to have found this forum, as the others are either too advanced, or don't provide enough information.
I want everyone reading this to do a WEIGHT CHECK IN, from the date of your December surgery, until today... what was your before, and now weight?
Now, on a more personal note, I hope having something in common with you guys, will help me.
Well, I need some advice. So far, I have lost 28lbs - 30lbs, however, my weight keeps teetering back and forth, and I have not lost any weight in almost 2 weeks! I will be 1 month out on Thursday, 12/20, and I was hoping to see the weight consistantly coming off.
Yes, I drink my protein shakes, and drink water, although not 64 oz yet.
I also just started working out on the tredmill, yesterday, and doing lite weights, as well. Also, I just started my soft food diet yesterday, 1 egg breakfast, 1 protein shake lunch, and tuna dinner, with water inbetween. This is enough to keep me full and happy.
I am asking what some of you are doing, and if you have lost around the same as me, so I can gage if I am on track or not. I hope these new changes will bring new changes in my weight, because I am beginning to wonder what is wrong.
Please let me know where you guys are at this point!

Vera,
I am almost 6 weeks out from my surgery (12/9) and I've lost 32 pounds. I haven't hit a week yet during which I haven't loss, but my weekly loss has slowed down quite a bit.
I am eating some regular food now. For today I am having:
B: 1/2 cup cheerios; 1/4 milk
S: Protein drink
L: Shrimp salad, 3 Kashi Cracker
D: Haven't decided yet.
I think it is not uncommon to hit a couple of weeks with no loss, from what I've ready sometimes your body needs time to catch up. Hang in there and I believe you will see it start to move soon!

Hi Vera -
I am 6 weeks today. I am on regular foods - chicken, fish, eggs, cheese....vegies (no thick skins, gaseous veggies, or high carb vegies)....no red meats/heavy meats...no potatoes, pasts, et****il goal is reached. (basically a 500 calorie diet with most of the calories protein. I am not allowed the protein shakes...so it takes all day to get the protein in via eating...
I am down 35 pounds. I was at a stand still for about 5 days - everything in my body seemed to be moving...and then this morning I was down 2 pounds...
Drink, Drink, and Drink sweetie - that is what flushes the waste out of your body - it is necessary to do that...I have a hard time with cold water - I seem to cramp...so most of my water is room temp, I drink Fruit2O, and at night I do herbal tea....
I'm just getting into walking and getting ready to join curves since I can't seem to get motivated...
I was told by the nurse that 25-30 pounds the first month is about right - expect a plauteau around week 5, and about 15-20 pounds each month after that...so It looks like you are on the right track....
Blessings,
Alice
Hello there Vera. Congradulations on your weight loss and your decision to have this surgery. I had mine on 12/06 and I am down 35 lbs this morning. I went to see my weight loss providers last week and they were thrilled I had lost 33 lbs. They said I was doing wonderful. However the nurse practitioner said I was not taking in enough calories at 550- 800 a day and that this was not good. These doctors and nutritionist wants me to take in b/w 950-1000 calories a day. They do not want me to get too malnurished and insist that I can achieve my goals by following their directions. I have a great tasting protein drink by Jay Robb and have found that Atkins put out some good tasting protein bars. I am eating everything with very few exceptions. Some foods just don't sit well in the pouch. I journal daily to track my intake of vitamins, blood sugar, emotions etc, and use FitDay.com to track my food intake. I have no problem getting my water in. I just sip all day and night. I started out at 330 pounds and now am under 300, me at 295. Wow this is so great. I have not really begun exercising as my arthritic knees are still giving me problems, but the pain is less each day. I can even walk without my cane for short distances. I am very pleased that I made this decision, just wishing that at age 57, I had come to this sooner.
Best of luck, Monica
girl, you don't even know... for about 2 1/2 weeks my scale said the same thing everyday (i was getting on twice a day) and i was so depressed. i was thinking, "damn, i had this surg to lose weight and i'm not. I could still be eating regular". then, i got over it, read some responses that the people on this site wrote to me, and stopped getting on the scale everyday. now, i'm down about 5 more pounds. i really do think that the body tries to hold onto the water (like my dr told me) and it will eventually let it go. i think your weight loss is great and i get alittle down cause it seems everyone loses more than me, but hey... i'm just a slow loser i guess. i'm about 6 weeks out and i guess i lost about 32 pounds. you just had your surg and you've already lost 30 pounds... i'm jealous. sue
I could have written Susan's email. I was exactly the same way. I had surgery on 12/15 and am down 25 lbs. I am really happy about that but I kept thinking what was the point to all the pain if I am not going to loose any weight. Well it slowly started to come off again, so my spirits are picking up. I only weigh once a week and that helps too!
Hi Vera.
Surgery was on 12/27 (3 weeks ago) and I've lost 28 pounds...49 pounds total including pre-op weightloss. I am not getting in all of my liquids yet, but I am working on that same with my protein. I am starting the gym tomorrow. I need to start getting some of my energy back.
Today I had:
B: Carnation Instant Breakfast
L: Carnation Instant Breakfast
D: Chicken breast
Congrats on your weightloss. You seem like you're on track however, everyone is different.
